Classy guy, our President.

Sock it to 'em Arizona, & keep the Feds out of it.
They don't get it; at least not this one...

Curtsy to Bluepitbull for this video...

DeanO~ Welcome! Yes, he has 'no grip on reality,' & the dire serious of the issues his own people face - whether the subject it National Debt, Islamic Terrorism or the dreadfully porous border. And in AND context, none of these is a laughing matter. Classless.

Jim~ It makes no difference at whom the joke was directed. The impact is the same. And your attempt to couch it in racism is stupid & offensive.

Oh, I forgot - when the opposition has a point you can't refute, call him a racist.

Figures.

Look, I'm tired of hearing how "arrogant" Barack Obama is. He is no more "arrogant" than that cocky fake Texan that was in the White House the previous two terms.

So when I hear that Obama is "arrogant", I'm calling it for what it is. Deny it if you like, but it couldn't be any more obvious. The fact that you would delete my comment speaks volumes. Every time someone calls Obama "arrogant", everyone knows what they mean.

Jim, dear~ You get "tired" of hearing how arrogant he is: The way he mocks the mentally/physically challenged, turned the WH lawn into a beer garden, flaunts his disdain for human life, the way he bows & scrapes before enemy leaders thinking his way is the almighty answer (guess what! they still want us all dead), they way he high-fives Venezualan dictators??, etc., etc., etc., etc...

Of course it's because of his race ...I can't believe I didn't see it before...silly me.

Further Jim, I'd bet a dime to a dollar that you've never read a comment of DeanO's before, never visited his blog prior to your comment, that there's never been any unseemly talk between you two before, giving reason to label him racist. If so, then I apologize. But I suspect not, & that your projective identification is at work - again.

I fail to see how someone can't see the arrogance oozing from his pores.

He scoffs at state's rights. He scoffs at the police. He scoffs at the Tea Party and says they should thank him.

Bottom line: Obama is an arrogant doodyhead.

Hey DeanO, have you seen Ironman 2 yet and is it any good?

I was thinking about going to see it this week.

Cheers,

On topic...

The arrogance thing is a strange one. I mean, you have to be arrogant to a certain degree to put yourself forward as a Presidential candidate in the first place, right? You're saying that you think you're qualified to lead a nation of 300 million people: that's pretty arrogant!

And that's true for anyone who puts themselves forward into a position of power. How they act in that position, that's a different matter. I don't see Obama acting in any more of an arrogant way than any other president of any other country I've ever seen. He has his own style, for sure, and you may not like it (you may like his policies even less!) but it doesn't come across as noticeably arrogant in a way that would justify the number of times the accusation is leveled at him.

Bush was labeled 'inarticulate' pretty often (mainly for using words like misunderestimate) and, on balance, that was probably an unfair criticism too.

That's my 2 cents anyway.

It doesn't matter so much what Obama is or is not. Don't waste words on him. It matters what those who have elected him are. Well, I'm afraid these people have displayed on the election Day, a very low intellect. It's worrying. They might do that again.

What a load of horse manure!

They might do that again.

I certainly hope so.

ExPat is exactly right. EXACTLY! And said it so well.

The way he mocks the mentally/physically challenged.

He made ONE misstatement for which he very quickly apologized.

turned the WH lawn into a beer garden

That's just petty [stupid] and does not equate to arrogance.

the way he bows & scrapes before enemy leaders

THAT'S arrogant (if it were true)?

they way he high-fives Venezualan dictators

He didn't. He shook his hand.

etc., etc., etc., etc.

There are no real examples that you can provide that actually would be thought of as remotely arrogant by anyone but an Obama hater.

Which leads me to the conclusion that has yet to disproved. "Arrogant" is code of "uppity".

Delete away!

Not true in any way or form. I never have and never will. DeanO's (and others') assertion that Obama is arrogant is not a point that can be refuted. It is an opinion, and one not based on fact, but on perception. And perception is in the eye of the beholder.

Most people don't find any extraordinary "arrogance" in this president. As ExPat says, "it doesn't come across as noticeably arrogant in a way that would justify the number of times the accusation is leveled at him." So I wonder where this "arrogance" meme comes from. Again, nothing you or anything else anybody has written leads me to any other conclusion than the one I have offered.

It has nothing to do with whether or not I disagree with DeanO's or anybody else's points or opinions.

Really? So what did the deleted post say?

Susannah said...

BP! Right on! Excellent points, & thanks for the giggle!

Matt~ My boys saw it this weekend, LOVED it!

Matt~ Good point about one positioning him/herself to attain such a position of power. I've pondered this before as well & it always leaves me scratching my head...

As for the perception of arrogance - your position is a bit sterile, considering you don't have a dog in this fight. And I'm thinking a plethora of examples have been given (though I'm certain Jim, et. al. will explain them all away, or just counter-attack...blah, blah, blah...)

Duta~ Spot on, sister! I'm grateful for your visit. Great to see you again. ;)

Jim, dear~ Yes, our friend Matt is a bright one. But, let's see: we have the opinion of a fairly disengaged Brit who admits his interest observational. And then my extremely articulate (sorry Matt, she's a sharp lady), highly engaged Israeli friend - who lives under the shadow of terrorism daily, & grapples w/ the consequences of our dingbat Pres.'s Middle East policies/terrorist-appeasing posturing even as we read this...

Hmmm...I think I'm going w/ DUTA; hands down & end of story.

Susannah said...

BP~ It included the same word he used @ the end of his post 2 below Duta's. The post leveled a severe accusation of racism @ DeanO, w/ no provocation whatsoever.

It ticked me off, so I deleted. Fumny, it's rather arrogant to use this epithet toward anyone/everyone who finds the pres.'s persona distasteful, much less people one doesn't know.

The whole racism thing is getting so boring. Like a commenter in my last post said, there are SOOOOOOOOOOOO many other reasons to dislike this man, race is simply irrelevant.

That's just me, but Jim likes his world his way & no other. (These are the same people that preach 'tolerance'... So many ironies, so little time.)

Jim said...

Think so?

The post leveled a severe accusation of racism @ DeanO, w/ no provocation whatsoever.

I would dispute that characterization. I merely opined that given the lack of any rational examples of Obama's arrogance, the usage of the word apparently was a socially acceptable version of a word that isn't.

it's rather arrogant to use this epithet

I didn't use any "epithet".

Jim likes his world his way & no other.

Silly statement.

I kinda figured that it did. I haven't seen lib trollers in quite a while.

Susannah,

Right, I'm going to go see it this week - I do love me a bit Robert Downey Jr.!

I certainly defer to DUTA'a knowledge of geopolitics and whatnot, I'm very much aware of what I don't know.

But I certainly am clued-in enough to be able to tell if a public figure is being overly-arrogant in a noticeable way and I just don't see it.

Just my opinion.

Susannah said...

Stick around, BP, I think there's a target on my back lately!

Matt~ I applaud your interest, your engagement w/ those of us who're trying to make sense of the craziness. I do not discount your intuitions, but my point (as yours) remains firm.
