"As a man thinketh": Slave Mentality?

My husband & I have the privilege of enjoying a friendship with a very active Conservative named Mr. Ken Raymond. We met Ken several years ago, when I was active with Young Republicans. Mr. Raymond was President of the group. In more recent years, Mr. Raymond & Mr. Susannah were impromptu 'bouncers' at an Elizabeth Dole event when some strange characters menaced the proceedings.

These days, writing for his 'cause' is one of the many fields that Mr. Raymond plays. He actively engages the African American community (& any who wish to follow) through venues such as Facebook and face/face involvement with local organizations. (And every so often, he comes by GTBI!) I'm grateful to have his permission to present the following article to you, which was recently published @ Yahoo.

Thanks, Ken!

The Slave Mentality
Do African-Americans Think like Former Slaves?
Ken Raymond, Yahoo! Contributor Network
Mar 16, 2011

Are There Any Similarities found in the Mindsets of Southern Slaves and Today's African-American Americans?

Many within the African-American community continue to talk about a phenomenon called "the slave mentality." It's a very controversial topic that's discussed during African-American forums, in African-American media outlets, and at just about any gathering where the attendees are all African-American.

The reason is likely because both blacks and whites feel very uncomfortable talking about this in racially mixed company--especially and when you consider America 's history of slavery.

But is it real? I believe it is and a clear definition is needed. But I was never a slave. And neither was anyone else that's tried to define this term in modern times.

But this mindset that needs to be examined and understood by all, but especially by those in the African-American community if certain issues are to be dealt with.

And I think the most qualified people to define the term are people who were former slaves themselves—Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman.

Both Douglass and Tubman escaped slavery and spent their lives helping others do the same. As outstanding members of the Abolitionist Movement, they contended with the slave mentality on a regular basis. And they walked among those that had this mindset. As far as I'm concerned, that makes Douglass and Tubman leading authorities on the subject.

What is the Slave Mentality?

Frederick Douglass documents his experience with other slaves in his autobiography, "Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass." And among the many things he says, we find this statement: "I have found that, to make a contented slave, it is necessary make a thoughtless one. It is necessary to darken his moral and mental vision, and as far as possible, to annihilate his power of reason. He must be able to detect no inconsistencies in slavery; he must be made to feel that slavery is right...."

Harriet Tubman, who led many slaves to freedom through the Underground Railroad, said this about the slave mentality; "I freed a thousand slaves. I would've freed a thousand more, if they only knew they were slaves."

Based on Douglass and Tubman's experience, we can define the slave mentality as follows: A person conditioned to quietly, and without objection, accept harmful circumstances for themselves as the natural order of things. They're also conditioned to accept their master's view and beliefs, about themselves, and strive to get others, within their group, to accept the master's view.

I think this definition summarizes a slave's way of thinking. But is this phenomenon thriving in African-Americans today? If so, where is it clearly seen?

Do People with Enslaved Minds Act Alike?

Nowhere is it seen more clearly seen than in the relationship between the African-American community and the Democrat Party. Let's take a closer look and see if our definition accurately applies.

For decades, black people have supported the Democrat Party at every level of government. As a result, the Democrats have maintained control of inner cities across America . And, until the 2010 elections, they maintained control of many state governments.

But let's examine the results of this alliance. According to the U.S. Department of Justice Department of Criminal Statistics, African-Americans account for more than 45 percent of all murder victims in 2007. And about 90 percent of those murders are committed by other African-Americans. And this trend has been going on for decades.

And consider the trend of the African-American population itself, which is in full reverse! Statistics from the U.S. Department of Health show that three out of five African-American pregnancies, in New York , end in abortion. And nationally, African-Americans account for 36.4 percent of all abortions but account for only 13 percent of the country's population.

On the education front, many African-American children, in junior high and high school, are unable to read at their grade level. This has been going on for a long time also. And with the Democrats in charge of education, the literacy rate for African-Americans has been on a downward spiral.

And according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, African-American unemployment was at 12.6 percent in January of 2009. It now stands at 15.3 percent as of February 2011. Yet the Democrats will, undoubtedly, receive over 90 percent of the black vote in 2012.

African-Americans never express their dissatisfaction Democrats in general. In fact, African-Americans reward them by voting them back into office each election year.

This behavior meets our definition of the slave mentality, in which African-Americans appear to accept harmful circumstances quietly and without objection.

The same can be said about the African-American murder rate. However other aspects of the slave mentality apply here also. Many of today's African-Americans appear to accept the 19th century slave owner's view of themselves. During that time, a slave's life was worth little or nothing. In fact it was not illegal to kill a slave whether the murderer was black or white.

And can the Democrats argue that they value the lives of African-Americans when they support and promote the abortion industry, which has most of their facilities in minority neighborhoods?

Frederick Douglass' statement about "a contented slave having his moral and mental vision darkened" clearly explains why the African-American community tolerates extremely high murder and abortion rates.

It also explains how the African-American community can embrace the use of the N-Word within its culture. The N-word carries every horrible, degrading concept used, by their oppressors, to justify the enslavement of black people. And no matter how hard black people try to justify its use among them, it'll always carry those meanings. And when African-Americans use it to describe themselves, it's very destructive.

Slaves also nurtured a concept that told them they were completely dependent on their slave owners. They believed they couldn't survive without them. And no one can dispute that the same thinking was planted in the minds of African-Americans by the Democrats since the Lyndon Johnson era. And whenever the government talks about cutting programs, many black people don't believe they'll survive.

And recently we've seen the slave mentality work through Rev. Al Sharpton. When pro-life groups placed billboards in New York 's black neighborhoods, Sharpton led the charge to have them removed. This places Sharpton in the role of the slave who strives to get other slaves to accept their master's viewpoint and accept their circumstances.

Based on all of this, we can conclude that many within the black community make decisions according to the judgment of a slave.

But is this type of judgment exclusive to black people? No, it's not. The slave mentality is the result of conditioning that's been learned and passed down from generation to generation. And since it was the black race that was enslaved in America , this mindset is easily found in their descendants.

However, if you look and compare eastern European races to their ancestors that experienced the same thing historically, it's very likely that you'll see the same behavior.

What Can We Do About It?

Constitutional amendments cannot abolish the slave mentality. So how does someone stop thinking like a slave? For the answer we must, again, consult Frederick Douglass who said "I prayed for freedom for 20 years and received no answer, until I prayed with my legs." Douglass also said "To educate a man is to make him unfit to be a slave."

Black people must find the courage to assert their independence and individuality in the face of their peers and their slave masters. While living in Maryland , Douglass was constantly warned, by other slaves, to stop reading for his own safety. Other slaves told Douglass that he must sound and act like them. As a slave, Douglass was also denied reading and writing material by law. But he used rocks, lumber, and anything that would make, or leave, a mark as his pen and paper.

Douglass understood that other slaves were concerned for his welfare, but knew that he couldn't accept his master's view of him. Douglass accepted God's view. And after he found the inner strength to resist his peers and his master, he educated himself and became a free man.

Today, that translates into African-Americans asserting their independence from Democrats, who were the supporters and practitioners of slavery anyway.

Black people must also resist the self-destructive aspects of their culture even when other African-Americans, like Al Sharpton, say they must accept them.

People of WISCONSIN Must Win~

" 'Walker wants to end collective bargaining,' is the wail.

Actually, what the governor wants to end is the scandalous practice of powerful unions raising millions and running phone banks and get-out-the-vote operations for politicians who thank them with wages, benefits and job security no private employer can match."

Dovetailing into my most recent post, Patrick Buchanan's piece from Taki's Magazine:

"Why Scott Walker Must Win"
The anti-democratic methods President Obama’s union allies are using in Wisconsin testify to the crucial character of the battle being fought.

Teachers have walked off in wildcat strikes, taking pupils with them. Doctors have issued lying affidavits saying the teachers were sick, a good example of ethical conduct for the school kids.
Thousands of demonstrators have daily invaded the Capitol, chanting, hooting, banging drums. Hundreds have camped out there and refused to leave so the Capitol building can be cleaned.

Is this democracy in action? Is this what 9-year-old Christina-Taylor Green went out to see that Saturday morning in Tucson?

Picketers have carried placards with the face of Gov. Scott Walker in the cross hairs of a gun sight. He has been compared to Hitler, Mussolini, Mubarak. Democrats have fled the state to deny the elected Wisconsin Senate a quorum to vote.

Such tactics cannot be allowed to triumph in a republic.

Why is the L
eft behaving with desperation? Because it senses what this battle is all about. Not just about pay, but about power.

The Republicans are not only resolved to guarantee government workers pay a fair share of the cost of their pensions and health care. They are in a purposeful drive to disarm and demobilize the tax-subsidized armies of the Democratic Party and end sweetheart deals between unions and the poodle politicians they put into office.

“Walker wants to end collective bargaining,” is the wail.

“The senators who fled will come home heroes, and Walker will have broken the hearts of the people who put their faith in him.”

Actually, what the governor wants to end is the scandalous practice of powerful unions raising millions and running phone banks and get-out-the-vote operations for politicians who thank them with wages, benefits and job security no private employer can match.

Since the 1960s, government unions have been able to sit behind closed doors with the politicians they put in office and write contracts, the cost of which is borne by taxpayers who have no one at the table.

They call this collective bargaining. A more accurate term is collusive bargaining. And Walker means to put an end to the racket...

...When government unions sit down with the politicians they put into office, the relationship is not adversarial. It is not healthy. It is incestuous. And taxpayers must pay the cost of their cohabitation.

Gov. Walker also seeks to end the practice of having the state government collect union dues from state workers.

Indeed, why should a Republican administration collect dues for the benefit of union bosses who constantly labor to see to it those Republicans are not re-elected? Let the unions collect their own dues.

Walker would also require public service employee unions to hold annual elections by secret ballot to determine if state workers want the union to represent them, or if they would prefer to have their deducted union dues put back in their paychecks.

Legislators submit to voters every two years.

Why ought not unions to do the same?

In Wisconsin, the die is cast and Walker cannot yield.

For if he yields, the state and its 3,000 cities, counties, towns and school districts will be forever at the mercy of these unions.

If he yields, it will be a triumph for the tactics of intimidation, wildcat strikes and mass demonstrations to block legislative action.

The senators who fled will come home heroes, and Walker will have broken the hearts of the people who put their faith in him.

If Walker yields, governors and legislators across America will read the tea leaves and back away from taking on government unions. That means higher and higher taxes, as in Illinois, and eventual sinking of the states into unpayable debt and default.

The correlation of forces is in Walker’s favor. Time is on his side. When you are holding a winning hand, you do not offer to split the pot.

After his opponents invaded the Capitol, called him Hitler, fled the state, and tried to shout down and shut down the legislature with raucous demonstrations, what other cards do they have left to play?

Walker has recalled Ronald Reagan’s firing of the air traffic controllers as an example of how a strong leader must stand up even to a popular union when it is wrong.

There is an earlier example. When the Boston police went on strike and criminals ran amuck, and Sam Gompers came to the defense of the cops, Gov. Calvin Coolidge sent a telegram to that founding father of the American labor movement, “There is no right to strike against the public safety by anybody, anywhere, any time.”

Scott Walker cannot lose this fight, because his country cannot afford to have him lose it.

Stand with Gov. Scott Walker.

I stand with Governor Scott Walker. Do you?

Calling For A National Protest
Fellow Patriots,

American Majority is calling for a national demonstration of support for Scott Walker and leaders across the country who have the courage to fight the public sector union bosses - on Wednesday, February 23rd. This is the moment and opportunity for the tea partiers, and those who want limited government and support the free market, to stand firm against the greed and dangerous statist philosophy of the public sector unions. Help us fight this battle and win for America by doing one or more of the below:

1. A public show of support: a rally in your city showing your support for Governor Walker, the state legislators, and other governors and state legislators who want to do the right thing. Governor Walker is demonstrating responsible government in an era where government has been wasteful and irresponsible. He and other courageous leaders must understand that we completely support them in their decisions.

2. If you cannot conduct a rally, consider holding a candlelight vigil or march that night. Many will be offering up speeches, song, and prayers on behalf of our nation and its future.

3. If you are unable to attend an event in your area, please consider writing an op-ed or blog post concerning the issue. Every voice matters and deserves to be heard.

4. Lastly, we are asking that everyone update their Facebook statuses and tweet their support of Governor Walker's efforts. We must show our politicians that we can make just as much noise when they are doing the right things as well.

Now is the time to fight.

American Majority

Oh, Canada! (We don't like your healthcare.)

We've heard Michael Moore, et. al., rant & rave about how "wonderful" socialized medicine is; say like, in Canada.

Really??

Apparently not, according to Canadians:

Prayer for Tuesday, Nov. 2

My friend Joe gave me permission to use this wonderful prayer. I offer it today as a means of supplication, as a path to meditation, as a way of finding peace in the midst of anxiety. Perhaps you'd like to join me?

Father, you have given us a great nation, a great land and a great responsibility.

As we prepare for Tuesday's elections, we ask for your guidance, your strength and your wisdom to select the people who will move this country in the direction intended by its founders, as revealed in their very writings.

Help us to seek Your will and Your way, to conduct ourselves with grace and aplomb so as to bear a great witness for you, even as we decide the direction our great land takes.

Whatever happens Tuesday, help us remember that You are in control, even when our finite minds cannot see You at work.

May we be submitted to You, grateful to You and committed to You without reservation.

It is Jesus' precious and wonderful Name that I pray.

Amen.

...and amen.

"Overwhelm the System" a la Cloward & Piven...

A new friend of mine, "PurpleVoter" commented below on the socialist 'tax & spend' agenda:

"I have a problem with progressives using statistics to support their tax and spend agenda when the supposedly negative aspects of the stats were created/driven by the very policies they are being used to support. Think of it this way: you say the poor are becoming poorer because the rich haven't been taxed enough over the past twenty years. But what has happened to entitlement spending over the same period? Why is taxation the culprit and not entitlements?"

Excellent question. I believe we know the answer.
Please - keep reading:

Obama's agenda: Overwhelm the system
WAYNE ALLYN ROOT
MORE COLUMNS Jun. 06, 2010 Copyright © Las Vegas Review-Journal
*emphases mine

Rahm Emanuel cynically said, "You never want a crisis to go to waste." It is now becoming clear that the crisis he was referring to is Barack Obama's presidency.

Obama is no fool. He is not incompetent. To the contrary, he is brilliant. He knows exactly what he's doing. He is purposely overwhelming the U.S. economy to create systemic failure, economic crisis and social chaos -- thereby destroying capitalism and our country from within.

Barack Obama is my college classmate (Columbia University, class of '83). As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Obama is following the plan of Cloward & Piven (link mine), two professors at Columbia University. They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system with government spending and entitlement demands. Add up the clues below. Taken individually they're alarming. Taken as a whole, it is a brilliant, Machiavellian game plan to turn the United States into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs government for survival ... and can be counted on to always vote for bigger government. Why not? They have no responsibility to pay for it.

-- Universal health care. The health care bill had very little to do with health care. It had everything to do with unionizing millions of hospital and health care workers, as well as adding 15,000 to 20,000 new IRS agents (who will join government employee unions). Obama doesn't care that giving free health care to 30 million Americans will add trillions to the national debt. What he does care about is that it cements the dependence of those 30 million voters to Democrats and big government. Who but a socialist revolutionary would pass this reckless spending bill in the middle of a depression?

-- Cap and trade. Like health care legislation having nothing to do with health care, cap and trade has nothing to do with global warming. It has everything to do with redistribution of income, government control of the economy and a criminal payoff to Obama's biggest contributors. Those powerful and wealthy unions and contributors (like GE, which owns NBC, MSNBC and CNBC) can then be counted on to support everything Obama wants. They will kick-back hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions to Obama and the Democratic Party to keep them in power. The bonus is that all the new taxes on Americans with bigger cars, bigger homes and businesses helps Obama "spread the wealth around."

-- Make Puerto Rico a state. Why? Who's asking for a 51st state? Who's asking for millions of new welfare recipients and government entitlement addicts in the middle of a depression?Certainly not American taxpayers. But this has been Obama's plan all along. His goal is to add two new Democrat senators, five Democrat congressman and a million loyal Democratic voters who are dependent on big government.

-- Legalize 12 million illegal immigrants. Just giving these 12 million potential new citizens free health care alone could overwhelm the system and bankrupt America. But it adds 12 million reliable new Democrat voters who can be counted on to support big government. Add another few trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children, food stamps, free medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and eventually Social Security.

-- Stimulus and bailouts. Where did all that money go? It went to Democrat contributors, organizations (ACORN), and unions -- including billions of dollars to save or create jobs of government employees across the country. It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees could keep paying union dues. It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out (after giving Obama almost $1 million in contributions). A staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their union dues). All those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect their bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America. The country goes broke, future generations face a bleak future, but Obama, the Democrat Party, government, and the unions grow more powerful. The ends justify the means.

-- Raise taxes on small business owners, high-income earners, and job creators. Put the entire burden on only the top 20 percent of taxpayers, redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did nothing to deserve it (except vote for Obama). Reagan wanted to dramatically cut taxes in order to starve the government. Obama wants to dramatically raise taxes to starve his political opposition.

With the acts outlined above, Obama and his regime have created a vast and rapidly expanding constituency of voters dependent on big government; a vast privileged class of public employees who work for big government; and a government dedicated to destroying capitalism and installing themselves as socialist rulers by overwhelming the system.

Add it up and you've got the perfect Marxist scheme -- all devised by my Columbia University college classmate Barack Obama.

"Dhimmitude"

Did you know that Sharia law has been codified into United States Federal Law? Yes. Our President, along with Democrats - drunk on power & partisan pride - signed & secured it 6 months ago.

“What?!” you screech. “No way!”
“Yes…As sure as I live & breathe.”

There's a thing called “Dhimmitude,” & it’s buried deep in the bowels of Obamacare, like a tapeworm, preparing to mercilessly sap our society of its wealth, & render us into servitude of Islam.

You see, ObamaCare exempts Muslims (& other small, obscure groups) from purchasing mandatory health insurance, as well as the penalties for not purchasing it – due to ‘religious convictions.’ These groups will, however, enjoy the benefits of free health care.

Don’t believe me? Check out section 1402 (g)(1) of this behemoth bill. Even the left-leaning Snopes.com won't dispel the 'rumor.' (Curtsy to Jim for reminding me to source my claims.)

Now.

We must understand the context of the nature of my claim…

Consider the following:
"Dhimmitude is the Muslim system of controlling non-muslim populations conquered through jihad. Specifically, it is the TAXING of non-muslims in exchange for tolerating their presence, AND as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to islam.

The ObamaCare bill is the establishment of 'Dhimmitude' and Sharia Muslim diktat in the United States. Muslims are exempted from the government mandate to purchase insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured.

Islam considers insurance to be 'gambling,' 'risk-taking' and 'usury' and is thus banned. Muslims are specifically granted exemption based on this. How convenient.

So I, Joe/Jane Christian, will have crippling IRS liens placed against all of my assets, including real estate, cattle, and even accounts receivables, and will face hard prison time because I refuse to buy insurance or pay the penalty tax.

Meanwhile, Louis Farrakhan [Nidal Hasan , and Feisal Abdul Rauf & his Ground Zero Mosque adherents] will have no such penalty, and will have 100% of health needs paid for by the de facto government insurance. Non-muslims will be paying a tax to subsidize Muslims. Period.

This is Dhimmitude.

Dhimmitude serves two purposes: it enriches the Muslim masters AND serves to drive conversions to Islam. In this case, the incentive to convert to Islam will be taken up by those in the inner-cities as well as the godless Generation X, Y and Z types who have no moral anchor. If you don't believe in Christ to begin with, it is no problem whatsoever to sell Him for 30 pieces of silver. 'Sure, I'll be a Muslim if it means free health insurance and no taxes. Where do I sign, bro?' "

This.
Is.
Serious.

(When Speaker Pelosi said, “We have to pass the bill in order to see what’s in it,” she wasn’t kidding.)

Makes me wonder, "How many other ruthless, invisible tapeworms are infecting my beloved country?"

Heaven, help us.

Furious NC Parent Blasts Senator Over Health Care

Remember the phrase 'Must see TV'?

This time it's "MUST view Youtube"??

NC Freshman Senator Kay Hagan made a stop in Kernersville for "Conversations with Kay" about issues that affect Seniors. The following 'Confrontation with Kay' was taped & aired (edited, of course) on our local 6:00 news. Here's the unedited exchange for your enjoyment:

(In case the video doesn't play, click the 'watch on youtube' link, or click here.)

I'm so PROUD of this mother!

I'm proud to say she's from my County (would go hug her if I knew who/where she was); proud of her tenacity, her courage, her 'verve'. And then there's this clash w/ Kay Hagan...

THIS is what heroes are made of: parents taking care of their children, doing whatever it takes to do the right thing, standing up to Big Government, getting their voices heard, & letting them know (in very certain terms) that they will NOT have our vote - ever!

Did I say we need more heroes?? Yes, & we need more like her.

God bless America!

Upon whom the President rests his support...

Have you heard?

Your president bestows his full support in some of the most surprising places...

Curtsy to
IronicSurrealism:
King Samir Shabazz of the NBPP, sharing the opposite side of the race hate coin with the KKK. Each just as caustic and virulently racist as the other. Both deplorable. Both evil. If you denounce the KKK or any racist white supremacist group (as any decent human being should) you should by all rights denounce the NBPP as well. And call them out for what they truly are, and what they stand for, pure unadulterated hate.

Samir: "My job is to educate black people, whether they want to be educated or not. I don’t give a damn what they may think about white people, I hate white people. All of them. Every last iota of a cracker I hate him..."

Narrator:
Samir will use any opportunity to shout his message. Even at a festival to celebrating African heritage.

Samir:
"We didn’t come out here to play. There is to much serious business going on in your black community to be sliding through south street with white, dirty cracker whores on your arms.……What’s a matter with you black man, you got a doomsday with a white woman on your arm. Your enemy can not make you free fool. You want freedom you’re going to have to kill some crackers. You’re going to have to kill some of their babies..."

The incitement of murder on the basis of one’s race.
Evil incarnate. A fine example for today’s youth. Blood may already be on his hands. The New Black Panther Party, who as you may know, had their Philly voter intimidation case dropped by the Obama Dept of Justice...

A surprise??
Shouldn't be...

(Um, we tried to tell you...)

Now, how 'bout that "outreach" to the Muslim, jihadist world??

Just who is this guy supporting?? Read on:

Professor T.J. Joseph was attacked on July 4 in while returning home from Sunday mass with his mother and sister, a Catholic nun...the attackers used the vehicle to block Joseph’s car before dragging the professor from his vehicle and chopping off his right hand. The attackers then threw the hand away before fleeing.

Church-managed Newman College in Thodupuzha had suspended Joseph, its Malayalam professor, on March 25 for allegedly preparing a question paper with insulting references to the Prophet Muhammad.

St. Joseph Sister Mary Stella said the assailants attacked her brother with an axe and swords.
“They also attacked our elderly mother,” before fleeing, she said...

But don’t worry though. At least our tax dollars being sent to NASA will help with the so called “Muslim outreach” that Obama has turned NASA into.

This is who our country elected. Did we not SEE who he was??

We'd better see it NOW, people.

It's time to shut this operation DOWN, & take back our country!
Vote in November, cut off the $$! Repeal the damage that has been done. And never, EVER go down this road again.

Heaven help us.

MY hometown Tea Party Protester PUNCHED!

(...and btw, it's all GWB's fault!!)

Folks, it doesn't get any closer to me than if I had been there myself.
Saw this on Fox & Friends this morning:

My ears perked when I heard "North Carolina;" & I remind myself to research it. I go to my email & find this news story in a bundle from my local GOP headquarters folks. (Link gives much more info. than FNC video.)

Then I realize - these are MY people! I KNOW Nathan Tabor! I also know some of the others in the video. I have sat on their picnic blankets @ Tea Parties. They are not extremists. They are not the 'fringe Right.' They are average citizens (moms, dads, business owners, farmers, librarians) of my county who are not taking the G'ment steamroller lying down.

Bravo to Mr. Tabor! Bravo to the rest who are exercising our right to speak out against the over-reach of G'ment.
If not now, than never, friends. Do NOT remain silent!

The fight for our nation doesn't get any closer than this.

NO MORE SILENCE! Anti-Christian Bigotry must STOP.

This article says most everything I would like to say:

Comedy Central's uneven irreverence
By L. Brent Bozell III
president, Media Research Center

Comedians often pride themselves on being irreverent, and in today's popular culture a favorite thing to ridicule is religion. The network Comedy Central has made laughing at religion its bread and butter. Their irreverence has limits, however, and it has nothing to do with taste. When radical Muslims wrote ominously online that the creators of "South Park" could end up like Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh - shot eight times on the street - mockery of Muhammed was formally and publicly censored.

Within weeks of that very public retreat, Comedy Central announced plans to work up a series laughing at Jesus Christ called "JC," a half-hour animated show about Jesus trying to live a normal life in New York City to escape the "enormous shadow" of his "powerful but apathetic father." God the Father is preoccupied with playing video games while Christ is the "ultimate fish out of water."

Beyond the glaring double standard there is this question: Where is the market demand for an entire television series dedicated to attacks on Jesus Christ? What did Jesus Christ do to Comedy Central that they must relentlessly mock Him by portraying him defecating and talking about his "yummy, yummy crap" on "South Park" and roast him on specials titled "Merry F--ing Christmas"? Why the visuals of Jesus Christ being stabbed to death? Of the Blessed Virgin Mary menstruating? To call these attacks "juvenile" is an insult to juveniles.

Enough is enough. Citizens Against Religious Bigotry, a coalition of some 20 organizations and leaders, some Christian, some Jewish and some secular, in all representing millions of Americans, has come together to demand that the advertising community withhold their sponsorship dollars from this show, based on Comedy Central's documented history of anti-Christian bigotry. To sponsor this show is to support that anti-Christian bigotry. In reply, network spokesman Tony Fox declared that this show is only a vague idea and perhaps our group "should save their energy for the moment if and when this series ever makes air." But if "JC" is too vague to deserve comment, why did Comedy Central announce it with flagrant God-bashing fanfare?

It's amazing that the Comedy Central folks consider this putrid material to be "art" and wrap themselves with the blanket of artistic freedom of expression. Said programming head Kent Alterman: "The beauty of working at a place like Comedy Central is you can empower people to actualize their vision in a really unfiltered way.

"Unless, of course, the "vision" is an attack on Muhammed, in which case there will be immediate self-imposed censorship.

Comedy Central loves the idea that irreverence is the highest value that inspires the biggest laughs. Christians are called to love the opposite idea: that reverence to God is the highest value. We are called to take up the cross of Jesus daily, and that as a result people will "utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account."

We will not be silent. This anti-Christian bigotry must stop.

Primary Perspectives: 'do over'

Some things are important enough to repeat.

I've had discussions lately wherein it would've helped if the person with whom I was exchanging comments had known a little more about me & why I blog. These recent talks were w/ a pacifist who is naive enough to think that violence against women must be physical in order to be real, insidious & systemic. (Sounds like a blockhead kind of man, no?) Thus, this do-over of my very first blog piece - September 27th, 2008. (Pay close enough attention, & you'll even hear why this blog calls itself GTBI.)

“I admit it! I’m a conservative republican evangelical Christian – unashamedly so…”

Such was my ‘coming out’ to some precious liberal friends recently. This, my official debut, came after doing a bit of personal inventory with the changing political winds at my face. Later, I reiterated my proclamation to some of my closest friends (who were probably thinking, “This is news?”), just because it felt so good to say. These aren’t words that I would have so emphatically written or said before. But now, somehow candor is essential. It's time to speak some things.

It started with a discussion that led into a bit of politico-speak wherein the Governor of Alaska & the Republican nominee for Vice President, Sarah Palin, was being derided. I listened with interest, but didn’t tip my hand, and later left the conversation with gnawing unfinished business. After I screwed up my courage, because there is no coming back from such things, I composed a crisp email, detailing my ‘outage’ to the original conversants, who I trusted enough to not deride me too. Below is a bit of what I wrote them that next day:

Girls, I know we're coming from different places, but let me tell you what she represents to me...Sarah Palin is a woman who - for the first time ever on the national stage - represents me. She's not an angry woman trying to be a man; not a woman who claims to champion my views, but who is so far out of step w/ me that she may as well be on Pluto. She is a woman who loves & respects her man, loves her children, loves being a mother. She is not afraid to be smart & savvy, but won't beat you about-the-head-neck-&-face w/ it. She is unapologetically committed to her faith, & she is conservative politically...So, why start a web log over this? Because I was watching the day her candidacy was announced - and was absolutely stunned. An eerie déjà vu draped itself over my shoulders, and I felt like I was looking in a mirror. Finally - a real woman (who could actually be me), with the potential of being Vice President of the country. A real woman who cares about the things I do - not someone who screams far-left hyperfeminist propaganda & then swears she's speaking for me.

Why write here & now? Because I’ve been writing for some time with a sense of discovery and anticipation, and with a notion that perhaps I have something to say. And because that day, I experienced a shift in perspective.

I'm not sure who'll win this thing, but the pundits are right. Governor Palin’s candidacy is a 'game-changer,’ -- for me, anyway. Primarily, she gives me real hope that conservative women now have a voice in the Women's Conversation of our time; that the Left no longer has a monopoly on "issues that women care about." She is a role model for thousands of women - who now see & know that you don't have to be abrasive & shrill in order to be tough & strong.

That's why they've been trying to kill her voice, kill her reputation, kill her credibility - literally kill it, before (shhhhhh!) any other women get the Big Idea that the feminist agenda has challengers...The media part of it has been beastly, and yes, quite personal. Because when the media tear her apart, they're tearing apart women like me.

So, there you go. Many thanks to Governor Palin for the shift in perspective. And thanks to the other Sarah Palins in my life, some who’ve helped me chart a course since before I have memory. Thanks to those who abrade my conscience, encourage my struggles, cheer my victories, and give me opportunities to serve in kind. You’re helping me live fully, helping me hone our voice and perhaps discover some big ideas.

So thanks for indulging another
do-over. Some things are just important enough to repeat.

Remember this?

...then there really should be no surprise here, people. Hussein was telling us who he was the whole time. It's just that nobody wanted to believe him.

Believe him now?

Prelude to a Revolution

They say History repeats itself...

THIS DAY March 22, 1765 the British Parliment passed the Stamp Act, imposing an oppressive, direct tax against the American Colonies. They did it to offset the costs of the military endeavor of the King in the colonies.

Wicked offense was taken by the colonists, that taxation from the Crown was directly imposed on the people - not in order to simply provide a loose regulatory structure for commerce - but to raise money for the Crown, for something the People didn't want, didn't need, & certainly did not wish to pay for.

Some colonists fell to despair, believing that they had no recourse. But by May 30th of the same year, 4 of Patrick Henry's Stamp Act Resolutions were passed:

1) Demanding their rights as citizens be preserved, and
2) Insisting the people's voices against oppressive taxation be heard & acknowledged, lest their 'ancient constitution' be obliterated.

This courageous 'sedition' led to the Stamp Act's repeal on March 18th, 1766, less than a year later.

Oppression must seek the bursting of Springtime. And it can be fought. And it can be defeated. Will we cower & fall into despair, as some colonists did? Thank God they didn't. And thank God we have their same fighting spirit within us. Will we remember? Will we call upon it?

If not now, never.

We've been - I'm sorry - Screwed.

God in heaven, help us. God help us.

219 Democrats in the House of Representatives just passed Obamacare. 219 Democrats took it upon themselves to change the fabric of my country - against the will of 200 Million American citizens; a change that involves 1/6 of our nation's economy, a change that inserts the Government into the most private, personal, intimate areas of our lives, a change that begins the washing away of our Republic & the ushering in of Marxism. (And don't kid yourselves, for that's EXACTLY what this does.)

Mark my words. Next on the list (in the name of tolerance, of course): Sharia law.
It'll come incrementally, tiptoe-ing through our courts. It'll slither up beside us (Terror trials in civilian courts? Gitmo transfers? Honor killings, anyone? Anyone??) & before we know it, it'll be another entitlement, as our country slides further into the abyss. God help us.

Found this video @ Joe's blog. Take a moment to watch - this guy expresses my sentiments, & maybe yours. (Sorry: technical difficulty; could only get code for link, not video.)

Have we awoken from our complacent slumber yet, my friends?

Don't tread on me.
