Israel: The Miracle Soldier

On Facebook, I'm 'friends' with the organization United with Israel.

Their June 12th post tells the story of a "fresh groom named Aharon Karov, sent to the frontlines of the Gaza war in 2008* a day after his wedding. He was critically injured by a bomb blast during the first days of the war...'The injuries were very bad, but in the end there was no injury to the brain,'...Today Aharon is healthy and his recovery has been hailed as nothing short of miraculous, especially in light of early predictions he would not survive at all."

For most of us, war is an utterly remote concept about which we fancifully form opinions - sometimes based on the whims of pop culture. We have no idea what it's like living your life in a daily battle for the very ground under your feet. Young Mr. & Mrs. Karov do, & I stand with them.

May God bless & keep the people of Israel.

*Original post read "2006," which is a typo, as the Gaza war was a 3 week conflict which began-ended in 2008.

Mubarak Egypt = Shah Iran??

It's time to be concerned, time to be strong, time to pray.

"The Iranian government is waiting for Egypt to fall into its lap. The Muslim Brotherhood, dominated by Iranian Islamic fundamentalism, will doubtless emerge as the winner should the government of Egypt fall. The Obama Administration, in failing to throw its weight against an Islamic takeover, is guilty of the same mistake that led President Carter to fail to support the Shah, opening the door for the Ayatollah Khomeini to take over Iran..." (Read Dick Morris' full column)

But Mr. Morris goes on:

"Now is the time for Republicans and conservatives to start asking the question: Who is losing Egypt? We need to debunk the starry eyed idealistic yearning for reform and the fantasy that a liberal democracy will come from these demonstrations. It won’t. Iranian domination will."

and finally:

"We must not let the two most populous and powerful nations in the region fall under the sway of Muslim extremism, the one through the weakness of Jimmy Carter and the other through the weakness of Barack Obama."

~~
Mr. Obama must support the need for reform in Egypt. Pray that he will. He must show strength in his leverage over Mubarak to make these reforms. Pray that he does.

If not: Mubarak = Shah. And the world is in deep, deep trouble.

Krauthammer on Loughner

Let's discuss our treatment of the mentally ill; our laws which tie our hands against the dangerous, ostensibly in favor of their right to autonomy...while disallowing others their right to safety, protection & even life.

Stop using this tragedy as a cynical, malicious political billy club...Just STOP.

Krauthammer -- the lone, brave voice in the wilderness.
