"Doorbell" (Cloward/Piven style...)

My wise friend Z, who made an excellent point about my last post:
"Let's just get Morris out of this equation if we must..." when another commenter insisted on arguing about the personality of Mr. Morris, rather than the REality of our problem: Government SPENDING.

Let us not chase rabbits into warrens...

STOP SPENDING!

STOP. SPENDING.

Just stop.

Thomas Edison's Broken Bulb

Went to another writing workshop today, friends.

I'm kinda getting used to the way these things run, & have learned to "go with" what strikes me. Today we were presented with a table full of postcards. We were asked to select one & write a travel diary entry that would represent its story. The card that "struck" me was a picture of a broken lightbulb. I knew why, even as I walked back to my seat, & could hardly get to my pen/paper fast enough. What flowed from my pen was not exactly what one would call a 'travel diary entry,' but I wrote "my truth" in the moment nonetheless.

Thomas Edison's Broken Bulb

Time crashes forward as waves in the surf. We are a remnant of life once lived, now drowning in bureaucracy, swallowing, sputtering, choking.

Will we find, on the slick coral, purchase to propel ourselves loose? Will we ever twist free of that which ensnares us?

Bureaucracy cannot, must not filter its tentacles into our lives so deep, such that we trap ourselves within our own collective power.

God help us! Prevent this suicide from on-high, from within.

Else, like the broken bulb - or Atlantis - our culture will lie in shattered ruin at the bottom of the ocean floor.

Yep. My truth.

I do NOT like the "new light bulbs" that the Federal government is forcing me to now use.

I do NOT appreciate the intrusion into my personal space, my home, my way of life. That should NOT be the government's role in American life, and I resent it. In my humble opinion, it's the beginning of that proverbial slide down a 'slippery slope' into a dark place in history, maybe even to the bottom of the ocean floor.

When Johnny met Harry

....so then John Boehner says to Harry Reid,

"Okay honey, I'm calling the credit card company to raise our limit. But in the future, we need to seriously cut down on our spending."

And Harry answers back, "I knew you'd see it my way, dear."

Saint Patrick's Day Limerick~

Happy Saint Patty's Day!

There once was a guy named Barack,

Who liked to hear himself talk...

He bought all the banks

And asked for our thanks,

While putting our children in hock.

And a fine day to ya, now!

Stand with Gov. Scott Walker.

I stand with Governor Scott Walker. Do you?

Calling For A National Protest
Fellow Patriots,

American Majority is calling for a national demonstration of support for Scott Walker and leaders across the country who have the courage to fight the public sector union bosses - on Wednesday, February 23rd. This is the moment and opportunity for the tea partiers, and those who want limited government and support the free market, to stand firm against the greed and dangerous statist philosophy of the public sector unions. Help us fight this battle and win for America by doing one or more of the below:

1. A public show of support: a rally in your city showing your support for Governor Walker, the state legislators, and other governors and state legislators who want to do the right thing. Governor Walker is demonstrating responsible government in an era where government has been wasteful and irresponsible. He and other courageous leaders must understand that we completely support them in their decisions.

2. If you cannot conduct a rally, consider holding a candlelight vigil or march that night. Many will be offering up speeches, song, and prayers on behalf of our nation and its future.

3. If you are unable to attend an event in your area, please consider writing an op-ed or blog post concerning the issue. Every voice matters and deserves to be heard.

4. Lastly, we are asking that everyone update their Facebook statuses and tweet their support of Governor Walker's efforts. We must show our politicians that we can make just as much noise when they are doing the right things as well.

Now is the time to fight.

Ned Ryun
President
American Majority

Lt. Col. Allen West: the enemy we face.

During a panel discussion sponsored by the Hudson Institute last January, retired Army Lt. Colonel Allen West, who did combat duty in Iraq, responded to a Marine who asked the question, how do you answer people who say that terrorists are following a "warped" version of Islam?

The panel consisted of a number of former military personnel, who fumbled around trying to answer the question. Col. West finally stepped forward answered the question directly and truthfully. Listen to the words of a former military man who understands the nature of the enemy we face:

Notice again Col. West's straightforward assessment: "This is not a perversion. They are doing exactly what this book [i.e., the Qur'an] says."

Lt. Col. West was elected to Congress in November, to represent Florida's 22nd congressional district. He will be the first African-American Republican congressman to represent Florida since 1870.

"Dhimmitude"

Did you know that Sharia law has been codified into United States Federal Law? Yes. Our President, along with Democrats - drunk on power & partisan pride - signed & secured it 6 months ago.

“What?!” you screech. “No way!”
“Yes…As sure as I live & breathe.”

There's a thing called “Dhimmitude,” & it’s buried deep in the bowels of Obamacare, like a tapeworm, preparing to mercilessly sap our society of its wealth, & render us into servitude of Islam.

You see, ObamaCare exempts Muslims (& other small, obscure groups) from purchasing mandatory health insurance, as well as the penalties for not purchasing it – due to ‘religious convictions.’ These groups will, however, enjoy the benefits of free health care.

Don’t believe me? Check out section 1402 (g)(1) of this behemoth bill. Even the left-leaning Snopes.com won't dispel the 'rumor.' (Curtsy to Jim for reminding me to source my claims.)

Now.

We must understand the context of the nature of my claim…

Consider the following:
"Dhimmitude is the Muslim system of controlling non-muslim populations conquered through jihad. Specifically, it is the TAXING of non-muslims in exchange for tolerating their presence, AND as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to islam.

The ObamaCare bill is the establishment of 'Dhimmitude' and Sharia Muslim diktat in the United States. Muslims are exempted from the government mandate to purchase insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured.

Islam considers insurance to be 'gambling,' 'risk-taking' and 'usury' and is thus banned. Muslims are specifically granted exemption based on this. How convenient.

So I, Joe/Jane Christian, will have crippling IRS liens placed against all of my assets, including real estate, cattle, and even accounts receivables, and will face hard prison time because I refuse to buy insurance or pay the penalty tax.

Meanwhile, Louis Farrakhan [Nidal Hasan , and Feisal Abdul Rauf & his Ground Zero Mosque adherents] will have no such penalty, and will have 100% of health needs paid for by the de facto government insurance. Non-muslims will be paying a tax to subsidize Muslims. Period.

This is Dhimmitude.

Dhimmitude serves two purposes: it enriches the Muslim masters AND serves to drive conversions to Islam. In this case, the incentive to convert to Islam will be taken up by those in the inner-cities as well as the godless Generation X, Y and Z types who have no moral anchor. If you don't believe in Christ to begin with, it is no problem whatsoever to sell Him for 30 pieces of silver. 'Sure, I'll be a Muslim if it means free health insurance and no taxes. Where do I sign, bro?' "

This.
Is.
Serious.

(When Speaker Pelosi said, “We have to pass the bill in order to see what’s in it,” she wasn’t kidding.)

Makes me wonder, "How many other ruthless, invisible tapeworms are infecting my beloved country?"

Heaven, help us.

Wow: Charles Krauthammer. Really - wow!

The Last Refuge of a Liberal

By Charles KrauthammerFriday, August 27, 2010
*(all emphases mine)

Liberalism under siege is an ugly sight indeed. Just yesterday it was all hope and change and returning power to the people. But the people have proved so disappointing. Their recalcitrance has, in only 19 months, turned the predicted 40-year liberal ascendancy (James Carville) into a full retreat. Ah, the people, the little people, the small-town people, the "bitter" people, as Barack Obama in an unguarded moment once memorably called them, clinging "to guns or religion" or -- this part is less remembered -- "antipathy toward people who aren't like them."

That's a polite way of saying: clinging to bigotry. And promiscuous charges of bigotry are precisely how our current rulers and their vast media auxiliary react to an obstreperous citizenry that insists on incorrect thinking.

-- Resistance to the vast expansion of government power, intrusiveness and debt, as represented by the Tea Party movement? Why, racist resentment toward a black president.

-- Disgust and alarm with the federal government's unwillingness to curb illegal immigration, as crystallized in the Arizona law? Nativism.

-- Opposition to the most radical redefinition of marriage in human history, as expressed in Proposition 8 in California? Homophobia.

-- Opposition to a 15-story Islamic center and mosque near Ground Zero? Islamophobia.

Now we know why the country has become "ungovernable," last year's excuse for the Democrats' failure of governance: Who can possibly govern a nation of racist, nativist, homophobic Islamophobes?

Note what connects these issues. In every one, liberals have lost the argument in the court of public opinion. Majorities -- often lopsided majorities -- oppose President Obama's social-democratic agenda (e.g., the stimulus, Obamacare), support the Arizona law, oppose gay marriage and reject a mosque near Ground Zero.

What's a liberal to do? Pull out the bigotry charge, the trump that preempts debate and gives no credit to the seriousness and substance of the contrary argument. The most venerable of these trumps is, of course, the race card. When the Tea Party arose, a spontaneous, leaderless and perfectly natural (and traditionally American) reaction to the vast expansion of government intrinsic to the president's proudly proclaimed transformational agenda, the liberal commentariat cast it as a mob of angry white yahoos disguising their antipathy to a black president by cleverly speaking in economic terms.

Then came Arizona and S.B. 1070. It seems impossible for the left to believe that people of good will could hold that: (a) illegal immigration should be illegal, (b) the federal government should not hold border enforcement hostage to comprehensive reform, i.e., amnesty, (c) every country has the right to determine the composition of its immigrant population.

As for Proposition 8, is it so hard to see why people might believe that a single judge overturning the will of 7 million voters is an affront to democracy? And that seeing merit in retaining the structure of the most ancient and fundamental of all social institutions is something other than an alleged hatred of gays -- particularly since the opposite-gender requirement has characterized virtually every society in all the millennia until just a few years ago?

And now the mosque near Ground Zero. The intelligentsia is near unanimous that the only possible grounds for opposition is bigotry toward Muslims. This smug attribution of bigotry to two-thirds of the population hinges on the insistence on a complete lack of connection between Islam and radical Islam, a proposition that dovetails perfectly with the Obama administration's pretense that we are at war with nothing more than "violent extremists" of inscrutable motive and indiscernible belief. Those who reject this as both ridiculous and politically correct (an admitted redundancy) are declared Islamophobes, the ad hominem du jour.

It is a measure of the corruption of liberal thought and the collapse of its self-confidence that, finding itself so widely repudiated, it resorts reflexively to the cheapest race-baiting (in a colorful variety of forms). Indeed, how can one reason with a nation of pitchfork-wielding mobs brimming with "antipathy toward people who aren't like them" -- blacks, Hispanics, gays and Muslims -- a nation that is, as Michelle Obama once put it succinctly, "just downright mean"?

The Democrats are going to get beaten badly in November. Not just because the economy is ailing. And not just because Obama over-read his mandate in governing too far left. But because a comeuppance is due the arrogant elites whose undisguised contempt for the great unwashed prevents them from conceding a modicum of serious thought to those who dare oppose them.

Ouch.

MY hometown Tea Party Protester PUNCHED!

(...and btw, it's all GWB's fault!!)

Folks, it doesn't get any closer to me than if I had been there myself.
Saw this on Fox & Friends this morning:

My ears perked when I heard "North Carolina;" & I remind myself to research it. I go to my email & find this news story in a bundle from my local GOP headquarters folks. (Link gives much more info. than FNC video.)

Then I realize - these are MY people! I KNOW Nathan Tabor! I also know some of the others in the video. I have sat on their picnic blankets @ Tea Parties. They are not extremists. They are not the 'fringe Right.' They are average citizens (moms, dads, business owners, farmers, librarians) of my county who are not taking the G'ment steamroller lying down.

Bravo to Mr. Tabor! Bravo to the rest who are exercising our right to speak out against the over-reach of G'ment.
If not now, than never, friends. Do NOT remain silent!

The fight for our nation doesn't get any closer than this.

Tea Party 2010: Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC.
Beautiful day, great crowd of 1,500 -- families with picnics, children throwing frisbees, moms & dads w/ strollers -- not exactly your 'angry mob,' 'loonie-tune' types...
All with passion for our country & a strong distaste for Obama-style, intrusive, big-spending, Big Government.

I LOVED this next one!!

Even met a fellow blogger, Renee.
Here w/ her husband.
Very telling signage...

I have several more pics, but all w/ my kids in them; & you know how I am about pics of my kids... :)

Prelude to a Revolution

They say History repeats itself...

THIS DAY March 22, 1765 the British Parliment passed the Stamp Act, imposing an oppressive, direct tax against the American Colonies. They did it to offset the costs of the military endeavor of the King in the colonies.

Wicked offense was taken by the colonists, that taxation from the Crown was directly imposed on the people - not in order to simply provide a loose regulatory structure for commerce - but to raise money for the Crown, for something the People didn't want, didn't need, & certainly did not wish to pay for.

Some colonists fell to despair, believing that they had no recourse. But by May 30th of the same year, 4 of Patrick Henry's Stamp Act Resolutions were passed:

1) Demanding their rights as citizens be preserved, and
2) Insisting the people's voices against oppressive taxation be heard & acknowledged, lest their 'ancient constitution' be obliterated.

This courageous 'sedition' led to the Stamp Act's repeal on March 18th, 1766, less than a year later.

Oppression must seek the bursting of Springtime. And it can be fought. And it can be defeated. Will we cower & fall into despair, as some colonists did? Thank God they didn't. And thank God we have their same fighting spirit within us. Will we remember? Will we call upon it?

If not now, never.
We are in this place 'for such a time as this.'
Do not discount your efforts.
This is our time.
It is our imperative, toward our posterity.
We have received our calling.

Kill the Bill!!

Update:
Got out my cellphone today & called the list of Congressional Dems. from 3-13's post (please see below). It took only 15 minutes. Got several busy signals, several 'mailbox full' messages & managed to get through to about 8. I'm calling until they've all heard from me.

Go to Twitter & run a search for #killthebill to see what people are saying. There are reports of people shouting outside of Congressional offices "Kill the bill! Kill the bill!" (You'd think we were still in the Clinton Administration. But no, this is FAR more serious.)

Call, my friends. Take 15 minutes & call. Register your 'vehement opposition' to this healthcare bill. Or simply say, "Kill the bill!!"
