Pres. actually called us 'enemies...'

Over the weekend, House GOP leader John Boehner remarked:

“Ladies and gentlemen, we have a president in the White House who referred to Americans who disagree with him as ‘our enemies.’

Think about that. He actually used that word.

When Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush used the word ‘enemy,’ they reserved it for global terrorists and foreign dictators — enemies of the United States.

Enemies of freedom. Enemies of our country."

“Today, sadly, we have president who uses the word ‘enemy’ for fellow Americans — fellow citizens.

He uses it for people who disagree with his agenda of bigger government — people speaking out for a smaller, more accountable government that respects freedom and allows small businesses to create jobs.

Mr. President, there's a word for people who have the audacity to speak up in defense of freedom, the Constitution, and the values of limited government that made our country great.

We don't call them ‘enemies.’ We call them ‘patriots.’

~~
Words are power.

Mr. President, you are abusing your power; and we will hold you accountable.

Those who love the light of truth have always been considered enemies by those who prefer to live in the shadows of deception. :(

BHO really tipped his hand with his choice of the words "enemies" and "back of the bus."

President BO is the enemy. He has made us his enemy. It is just as we said from the beginning of his reign.

In some ways, we are fortunate to have an incompetent communist as president. First, Americans have learned to beware of mantras of hope and change. Second, America has learned there are serious consequences to choosing unwisely. Third, Obama keeps telling us how he intends to destroy us. This is like Rommel explaining his scheme of maneuver to Patton. Let's just hope we are smart enough to pay attention to what Obama says; he means what he says.

And yet, people still follow him and his party blindly.

He has been very vocal about being anti-American. For crying out loud the man went on an "apology" tour and bowing down to foreign leaders.

He is a disgrace. If anyone is the enemy of the United States it is him and his cronies.

Your post is based on a lie. What Boehner said is not true. The president was referring to politicians whose policies were detrimental to the values and interests of the Latino community. In other words, political enemies. You know, like Obama is Jim DeMint and Mitch McConnell's political enemy.

Too bad Boehner and his followers (like you) don't have anything better to come up with that something this trivial.

In other words, political enemies.

Don't you think "enemy" is a pretty strong word, though, regardless of whether the reference is political?

Why phrase it that way at all?

This incident actually demonstrates several things. First, Jim is a typical leftist apologist for Obama, who could commit murder in front of witnesses and have people just like Jim deny it ever happened. Next, Obama is such a sophomore that he is willing to expend political capital on a nothing like Boehner. Why should the President of the United States take the podium, engage his black southern voice, and begin to behave as an attack dog? Aren’t there any lackeys left in the Obama entourage to do this? Finally, Howard Wilkinson at Cincinnati dot com wrote this: “ … the president … use the word ‘enemies’ to describe his political opponents. The White House clarified the statement Monday saying he should have referred to them as “opponents.” One might conclude that when a man has graduated from law school, he knows the meaning and usage of words.

Now then, Jim … are you the liar? Or have you simply misspoken? Or was that merely leftist spin?

Heather~ "the light of truth..."
I love that.

AOW~ Tipped his hand indeed. 'Seems every time he goes "off prompter," he says something like this. No wonder they keep him on such a short verbal leash...

Joe~ Just as 'we' said from the beginning. Yes. Thank HEAVEN people are finally hearing; and from his own mouth...

Mstng~ You're exactly right. Sometimes the best lessons are learned the hard way, no? And wasn't it BHO's pal, Oprah, who said -- "When someone tells you who they are...listen." Yep.

Leticia~ He is a disgrace, absolutely. I think, maybe, we have become desensitized to the meaning/impact of that word...perhaps that's why it has taken us so long to realize it when it's right in front of us.

Jim~ You're blind, & that's dangerous. Because you really mean what you just said, nothing (political) that you say holds any further validity with me. In other words, you've shown yourself to be a Leftist 'hack.' Sorry.

Heather~ Don't bother engaging that argument; there's no point.

Sam~ 1- apologist = "hack"
2 - unpresidential, sophomoric, moronic boob.
3 - 'clarifying' this statement a week later = "oh @#$%, we better clean this up."

Good points, all. Thanks!

The president absolutely did not call the American people enemies. Please, stop spreading this mischaracterization of the quote/speech.

Latinos DID use that term, and when Obama spoke to them, he used it as in "the enemies of Latinos" (whoever that might be).

This is nothing more than partisan spin, and a particularly unsophisticated variety, at that...

Whatever~ See, I didn't know you'd left a comment until just now...

"The president absolutely did not call the American people enemies."
Yes, he did.

"(whoever that might be)" Please! That makes me giggle! His audience knew EXACTLY who he was talking about, & so did I, & so did the rest of this country. He gets in trouble like this when he goes 'off prompter.'

The rest of your comment is "spin." I'm surprised you don't see that.
