Yes we CAN hope to get this changling out of DC come November!

Hey Joe!
Yes, we can.

Jim said...

Changling? What does that mean? And if you are talking about the president, you can't get him out of DC come November. No you can't.

What happens in November? Isn't that Thanksgiving?

Janie Lynn said...

I think we'll only get quasi-change here in Illinois but doggone it - we'll get some!

Susannah said...

Jim dear~ Changling... C'mon Jim. You don't get the clever intimation that our friend Joe is using? (You've said yourself that Hussein hasn't changed enough , & that you're a bit disappointed in his performance...)

Of course we can't shove him out of the People's office in Nov., Joe is speaking euphemism here...(have you no sense for nuanced speech?) But come Nov. he's gonna get a message - that so far he has failed to hear or concede.

BP~ Yes, & we'll all be giving Thanks...for the slow turning of the Titanic, hoping it hasn't hit the berg yet.

JL~ Quasi...hmmm. But didn't Hussein promise to 'rebuild this country brick by brick'? Have you only quasi bricks in IL?

Heaven help us.

Jim said...

Hussein was hanged in Iraq.

Susannah said...

JIM!! Yes, he was.

That being such a popular middle eastern, muslim name & all...the other one lives in the People's house in DC, no?

Yes, I believe so.

But, okay...shhhhh...they don't want us to acknowlege his real name. So like you, I'll play along.

NOT.

Dan Trabue said...

This sort of ugliness DOES make me want to pledge support... for whoever it is you folk are opposing. If you are opposing Dems, then I reckon I better pledge at least some support their way, flawed though they may be.

I don't want people in office who demagogue and demonize like I see y'all doing here.

And the word is spelled, "changeling" and, in context, Joe WAS saying that "we CAN get this changling [sic - meaning Obama] out of office come November." Not unless you're planning a coup and, even then, not, as you would only end up in prison.

Embrace some grace, folks. Relax. Obama is not the devil. You all sound crazed. Get some help.

November is EVERYTHING for America...maybe more than it's EVER been.
Please, let's not let Conservatives stay home to "teach Republicans a lesson"...they got us Obama.
Let's vote even for the disgusting RINO's if that's our only choice and then Tea Partiers can hold their feet to the fire!

Jim said...

No. Barack Hussein Obama lives in the White House. Not Hussein. He doesn't go by that name, nobody calls him by that name. He is not known by that name on any official record or document.

Using the name "Hussein" to refer to the President of the United States is simply a nasty attempt to associate him with Saddam Hussein, a middle eastern bad guy. It's transparent, childish, and I would have thought beneath you. Obviously not.

Did you refer to POTUS 43 as Walker to associate him with Johnny Walker scotch and implying (correctly) that he had been a roaring alcoholic?

Have some self-respect, Susannah. You really are better than that I think. Refer to him by his full name if you must.

(And yes, now I get "changeling". Clever.)

Susannah said...

DanT~ Welcome back! The only thing 'ugly' here is the truth. Notice, everything quoted is verbatim & in the context of Hussein's campaign pledges or his behavior since taking office. No distortion, no demonizing, simply a 'montage' of truth. If you consider it demonizing or demagoguery, you must take it up w/ the original voices. It's their self-fulfilling prophecy. The vid. producer simply distilled it.

"Embrace some grace...Obama is not the devil."
You're right; I don't assign that much power to him.

However, he won't eschew evil when it smiles directly into his heart, though. That's known as complicity, which is just about as bad.

Oh, & the 'help' you want us to get -- it's coming in November.

Heaven help us, indeed.

Z! You're right on the $$, sister! Keep beating that drum, louder & louder. We need you & yours on the Left Coast!

Jim~ Oh, for crying out loud. Your comment is more of a projection of your issues as I've ever read!! I have never, not once EVER likened Hussein Obama to S. Hussein. To do so would be sophomoric &, well, just stupid. No need to chastise me as you did in your last comment. It doesn't fit, & any further such I'll just ignore - or delete, depending on my mood. ;)

YOU, however, apparently read into my use of THIS MAN's NAME the ugly association that I never so much as hinted at (& frankly never even considered, so far fetched as that is). Hey DanT - how's THAT for demagoguery & demonizing??

A bit insecure of BHO's trustworthiness as a leader of the American people, are you Jim? Perhaps fearful that his refusal to use HIS OWN NAME on public record - even during his innaugaration - might just uncover the facade behind which he's hiding?

I am simply reminding people of this man's name -- from which he's so desperate to extricate himself.

I will not play along - as ALL major media has done - & let him get away with the facade. And it has absolutely nothing to do w/ a dead Iraqi dictator. If you continue to believe so, that's your problem, Jim, not mine.

Yes, & 'changeling' - Joe's a clever fella.

Dan Trabue said...

If you do not intend to demonize Obama and associate him with Muslims, in general and Muslim extremists in particular, why do you refer to him as "Hussein"? As a sign of respect that you have for our Muslim brothers and sisters?

I doubt it.

You all need help. You need grace.

Tell me, what will you do in November if the GOP does not make significant gains? What if they lose more than they win? What then?

Do you trust that our country will go on, up and down, back and forth, as it has. Sometimes doing better and sometimes doing worse, but still a great nation?

Or do you see it as the End of Days?

You all speak as if you think Obama is the Great Destructor, intent on killing the US and you sound just plain shrill and juvenile.

No president is perfect. And none of our presidents have tried to destroy the US. Not even Reagan or Bush II, as bad as they were.

They have all just been flawed humans doing what they thought was best, sometimes with great mistakes and sometimes doing not so bad, but mostly just flopping along doing the best they can.

Relax. The US will continue past 2010. Past 2012. Even if Obama gets elected again and the idiot Dems retain power. (And I'd say there's a good chance of that, especially if the economy continues to improve and the GOP continues to position themselves as the defenders of Big Coal and Big Oil and the sort of deregulation that has led to our current Gulf disaster).

Life goes on, even when you don't like the president. If I survived TWO decades of Reagan/Bush/Bush, YOU all will survive eight years of Obama.

DanT~ "why do you refer to him as 'Hussein' "?
Um, b/c that's his name.

"As a sign of respect that you have for our Muslim brothers and sisters?"
And so using one person's name suddenly becomes indicative of one's motivations toward an entire swath of people on the globe? Silly, your attempt to box me in, Dan.

"You need grace."
Of that, my friend, I am painfully & deeply aware. I invite you to read any of my posts with faith-related labels.

Yes, I absolutely need Grace. Desperately. As does every homo sapien breathing, including the president, our muslim "brothers & sisters," Franklin & Billy Graham, & yourself. (And your point, relative to this conversation?)

My personal salvation, not that I feel compelled to assure you, is settled. Though I could infer magnanimous reasons for you bringing that 'grace phrase' into this conversation - twice - I suspect your motivation is more likely chastisement than concern over my (or anyone else's) need for the limitless Grace of God through Jesus Christ.

So back off, DanT. Looking down your nose at others from your enlightened perch does not become you.

Barak HUSSEIN Obama will be the death of our country as we know it (God help us), & what he's doing to my America makes me extremely angry. If you don't like reading my opinion thus, don't return. But do not preach, condescend & call the sincerity of my faith into question simply because we disagree on politics.

I would not behave in such a manner toward you, out of respect for you , whether we agreed or not.

Dan Trabue said...

Susannah said...

Looking down your nose at others from your enlightened perch does not become you.

You reserve that right for yourself, then? That is, it's okay for you to mock and look down your nose at President Obama because his policies make you "angry," but you don't want others to get angry at your lack of graciousness towards this brother in Christ and call you on the carpet for it?

Your blog, your rules.

I apologize for my lack of graciousness, if such a lack was felt.

Dan Trabue said...

Susannah, one more thing. You said...

And so using one person's name suddenly becomes indicative of one's motivations toward an entire swath of people on the globe? Silly, your attempt to box me in, Dan.

My apologies. Unfortunately, there are many bigoted jerks out there who WOULD use a Muslim name as an epithet, to try to demonize a person by falsely suggesting a link between him and terrorists because his middle name has Muslim roots. These demonizing bigots are hateful towards Muslims, because they don't understand that you can be a peace-loving Muslim.

These bigots are just too stupid to understand that the tiny percentage does not represent the whole and so, they would jump on someone's middle name and use it, instead of the name he actually goes by, in an attempt to demonize and slander and mock.

I'm glad to hear that you are only using the name out of respect and you're NOT using it because you are a bigot who hopes to mock him and demonize our president because of his middle name.

Would that there were more adults like you out there on the Right (that is, amongst those few bigots on the Right who would use a name to demonize and mock).

Jim said...

I have never, not once EVER likened Hussein Obama to S. Hussein.

Then why do you call the president that? It's not his name. It's his middle name. And your toss out your red herring about "likened". I didn't say "likened" I said "associate".

To do so would be sophomoric &, well, just stupid.

EXACTLY! That's why I thought it was beneath you.

THIS MAN's NAME

It is not his name. It is his middle name. Is Susannah YOUR middle name?

the ugly association that I never so much as hinted at (& frankly never even considered, so far fetched as that is).

Baloney! That's got to be one of the most disingenuous things you've ever written here. You're not that naive. See above. Otherwise, why do you call him that?

A bit insecure of BHO's trustworthiness as a leader of the American people, are you Jim?

Nope. Why should I be...

his refusal to use HIS OWN NAME on public record - even during his inauguration

Another LIE which can EASILY be PROVED.

...which renders this: I am simply reminding people of this man's name -- from which he's so desperate to extricate himself a feckless attempt to distance yourself from something you simply can't.

Susannah said...

DanT~ Congratulaions! You scored "A+" @ Saul Alinsky's school , & you follow the rules (for radicals) quite well...

* When pinned in a corner, ignore the issue, change the subject & "make the enemy live up to its own book of rules..."
Trouble is, it doesn't work when the 'book of rules' doesn't apply to the argument @ hand.
i.e., It's absolutely acceptable for me to criticize, be angry w/ & yes, even mock Hussein Obama b/c of his policies. It's my right, in fact.

It is NOT acceptable for you to come to my blog spoiling for a fight, insult me, & preach about personal, intimate spiritual elements of people's lives, as if you know anyone's soul from On High.

My lack of graciousness toward you made you angry @ me?? You're kidding, right? b/c that makes me snicker just a little.

* "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counteract ridicule."

DanT, apparently you came here w/ agitation as your goal (isn't that a 'community organizer's' job?), and you succeeded. I 'called you out' on your self-righteousness, & you're attempting to turn that on me...Whatever.

Congratulations again. Alinsky & Hussein Obama would both be proud.

Note: Continue along this vein & I will no longer tolerate your comments. Yes - my blog, my rules, & I will delete. Fair warning.

Susannah said...

Jim~ We've discussed your penchant toward tedium before, right?

"I didn't say 'likened' I said 'associate.'"

Oh boy. OK:
"I have never, not once EVER 'associated' Hussein Obama to S. Hussein. To do so would be sophomoric &, well, just stupid."
Point being -- I never said, likened, associated, inferred, intimated, nudged, winked, anything linking the two. That 'association' is YOURS ALONE. Project it onto me if you like, but I refuse to accept it.

Oh, & feel free to call me Elizabeth any time! ;)

p.s. BHO was innaugarated as "Barack H. Obama." I was listening that day.

Obviously, not very well.

Good gracious! What's going on here?

Dan - when you made your first comment, what "ugliness" were you referring to?

Susannah merely referred to the President by his middle name - it IS part of his name. (I'm sure you always respectfully referred to his predecessor as "President Bush" right? And never used any cheap nicknames. Hint: I already checked your old blog posts and know that you did.

Why can't you have a little grace in your heart and love for your fellow countrymen here who aren't really thrilled that the commander in chief is of Muslim heritage - we would prefer a more traditional, Christian background. (That doesn't mean we hate anyone for being Muslim - Obama is a public figure and criticism of just about anything comes with that territory.)

I also saw in your blog that in numerous instances you refer to yourself as "a communist", so I don't think we're really worried about losing any votes from you in November.

Dan Trabue said...

Since Susannah will delete this, I'll respond to false comments this last time and go away.

Buck said...

Why can't you have a little grace in your heart and love for your fellow countrymen here who aren't really thrilled that the commander in chief is of Muslim heritage - we would prefer a more traditional, Christian background.

Because you are demonizing and attempting to slander a fellow Christian and THAT, God says, is wrong. THAT, common decency is wrong.

You despise this man because he has Muslim roots in his background? Really? Are you that pig-headed? That ignorant? That bigoted?

What do you have in YOUR background? Do you have child-molesters in your background and therefore we should despise YOU because, you know, you're probably a child molester, too? Do you see how TRULY stupid and bigoted such a statement is?

Lord have mercy on you all.

Susannah, I'd suggest that if you have a problem with Obama's policies, you address those policies and not do this stupid slander approach.

It's wrong.

Delete away.

Susannah said...

Jim~ You are right & I am wrong. I do apologize. I was listening that day, but only up to the point that the talking head, narrating the media coverage introduced the pres-elect to the viewers as "Barack H. Obama." After that, I couldn't watch. So you're right.

I believe, though, that your being right here furthers my argument. But even if you don't agree, hat's the big deal w/ me using his name? I use it because I believe he's still hiding who he really is, & because his BEHAVIOR, POLICIES & VERBAGE (not his NAME) points to a dangerous sympathy for Islamic Jihadists.

I could go on, but I believe I've addressed this fully & it's getting a bit old.

Buck! Welcome back! Thanks for the moral support here...Funny, how any criticism of the exalted One is instantly labeled "ugliness," "hate-speech," "intolerance," "bigotry." And now, I think we're supposed to add "unChristian" to that bag of tricks. Well not me. If it weren't so pathetic, it would just be comical, but since it isn't funny , I'm going to call it as I see it: frightening.

Susannah said...

Help me, please.

Does anyone, ANYONE know what the @#$% DanT is talking about?

I sure don't.

Ha! - Providing us with the laugh of the day I guess. Wasn't the spit and venom just flying in that little rant?

Let's parse it out - just for kicks.

So this Commie Christian has no love for other Christians and fellow countrymen who disagree with his political leanings

"Because you are demonizing and attempting to slander a fellow Christian and THAT, God says, is wrong. THAT, common decency is wrong."

1.Referring to someone by one of their given names is neither slanderous nor demonizing.
2.I don't consider a person like Hussein a Christian just because he SAYS he is a Christian. He is a lying, thieving, greedy, corrupt, egotistical, and just plain mean, criminal maniac. He has never seriously attended a REAL Christian church. His friends are all hedonistic, fringe weirdos. And he was raised by two Muslim fathers and a hippy mom. I could go on - but you get the point. He calls himself a Christian b/c he at some point realized that it was politically expedient to do so. But there is no objective evidence to support his claim.

And to answer the deranged questions:

"You despise this man because he has Muslim roots in his background?" No - I despise him for many, many, many other reasons.
That's just the icing on the cake.

"Really?" No - just your paranoid delusions.

"Are you that pig-headed? That ignorant? That bigoted?" No actually, you are the pig-headed, ignorant, bigot. Coming here and putting words into others mouths because it fits your stereotype of the world. You are a self-avowed COMMUNIST. Of course you love Hussein. You're just pissed because you thought you finally had your big chance to sink the last great ship of freedom, democracy, and capitalism, and DAMN why don't those conservatives and Christians just shut up, roll over, turn in all their hard earned wealth to your God the government, and get out of your freaking Communist way!

Piss off Dan. Ain't gonna happen.

Susannah said...

Anon~ Welcome. You must have been lurking & just couldn't contain yourself. I appreciate your passion & frustration w/ the ludicrous accusations/stereotyping, etc. in this thread. Re: your points #1 & #2 - couldn't have articulated that any more succinctly myself.

Next time you visit, however, do leave us your name. It's more fun & fair for everybody that way...right?

Dan Trabue said...

I'm a self-avowed communist?

Well, in the sense that the early church shared all things in common, yes, I lean THAT way. But if you mean socialist, you are mistaken.

I stand by my contention: Either Susannah, et al, are using Hussein out of respect for our Muslim brothers and sisters OR she's using it to try to link him to Muslims in general and extremists specifically. Why else would she do it?

It's an attempt to demonize someone on the goofiest of elementary school level reasoning and it's wrong. According to the Bible, those who slander, who gossip are WRONG and such behavior is not part of the Kingdom of God.

I'll assume that you are talking about me being a communist, you are referring to that in the Early Church Christian notion and not attempting to demonize me/slander/spread gossip. If that's what you mean, thanks! Yes, I DO strive to live like the early church.

If you are attempting to do the same thing as others here and smear and demonize, shame on you.

Dan Trabue said...

To illustrate, some anonymousy person said...

1.Referring to someone by one of their given names is neither slanderous nor demonizing.

Suppose there was a fella named John Adolph Jones. He goes by John Jones and just happened to have parents from a background where "Adolph" was a desirable name.

Jones is running for President. His political opponents choose to continually mock him as being an anti-American fascist and refer to him as "Adolph" rather than the name he goes by.

Are his political opponents attempting to slander and demonize him? Of course they are. That's why they're using that childish approach of attempting to slander him by petty name-calling. They do not refer to him by "Adolph" to honor him, to show him respect or any reason OTHER than to mock and demonize.

Context matters and reasonable adults can understand this. Can you offer even one reasonable explanation for why someone would be using "Hussein" to refer to Obama in a non-slanderous way?

Demonizing is not appropriate behavior for Christians - especially when they're talking about a fellow Christian.

And, no, someone is not a Christian simply because they say they are. We are Christians (or not) based on whether or not we have been saved by God's grace and have made Jesus Lord of our lives.

How do we know if someone is saved? Well, for one thing, the Bible tells us that they don't get involved with slander, with repeating falsehoods, with tearing down fellow Christians. Instead, you recognize those who are Christ followers by what they do for the least, by the fruit of the Spirit in their lives (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control), by whether or not they have love in their lives. By THIS shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you love one another, we're told.

Not by whether he has a particular middle name. Not by whether he is a democrat or a republican. Not by whether he votes the way you want on political issues.

Dan Trabue said...

While I'm at it, I'll correct one other misstatement someone made earlier about me. Buck said...

I'm sure you always respectfully referred to his predecessor as "President Bush" right? And never used any cheap nicknames. Hint: I already checked your old blog posts and know that you did.

I don't believe I did. I just looked up my own website and I pretty consistently referred to Bush as, well, "Bush." Sometimes, when talking about policies, I referred to some policies as "reaganbushbush" (meaning the Reagan and two Bush administrations, which all had pretty similar policies) and "mccainbush" (meaning McCain and Bush has pretty similar policies), but no, no name-calling that I could find.

I certainly gave him a very hard way to go about his policies, which I thought were often devastatingly wrong and immoral. But that's not the same as making fun of his name or name-calling in general.

If you can find some actual name-calling on my part about Bush, feel free to point it out, Buck. Otherwise, you're forgiven for the mistake. I'm sure it was an innocent mistake and not an attempt to say, "Look, we can make up silly names about Obama because YOU did it first...," as if we were in grade school.

Peace.
