Obama's speech in Cairo: apparently it’s about pandering to Islam now.
“I am also proud to carry with me the goodwill of the American people, and a greeting of peace from Muslim communities in my country: assalaamu alaykum.” Here we go.
“Moreover, the sweeping change brought by modernity and globalisation led many Muslims to view the west as hostile to the traditions of Islam.” Because so many of their people are living amongst the rubble of war & in caves. They will not stop warring w/ each other long enough to make progress.
“Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality.” And they cut the heads off Jews & Christians. What about gender equality? Or do their women like wearing body-blankets in the dessert?
“when the first Muslim-American was recently elected to Congress, took the oath to defend our constitution using the same Holy Koran” He should have used the Bible, as is our historic tradition. Oh forgot, they want us to warm to Sharia Law under the banner of inclusion.
“Much has been made of the fact that an African-American with the name Barack Hussein Obama could be elected president.” Oops! Should he have said that? I thought nobody was allowed to even know his middle name.
“that includes nearly 7 million American Muslims in our country today…” Highly debatable.
“Iraq was a war of choice…” Dumb a$#. I'm sorry; apologizing for America's heroism --by OUR OWN PRESIDENT-- just makes me really angry.
“That is why I ordered the removal of our combat brigades by next August. That is why we will honour our agreement with Iraq's democratically elected government to remove combat troops from Iraqi cities by July, and to remove all our troops from Iraq by 2012.” Great. You wanna show 'em the battle plans, too?
“But we will support a secure and united Iraq as a partner, and never as a patron.” Why should we NOT seek some form of payment – we freed their country…
“For centuries, black people in America suffered the lash of the whip as slaves and the humiliation of segregation.” For CENTURIES? Really. Centuries? We haven’t even been a country but for 233 years.
“rules on charitable giving have made it harder for Muslims to fulfill their religious obligation. That is why I am committed to working with American Muslims to ensure that they can fulfil zakat.” So, let’s change tax laws to accommodate Muslim law – sounds like Sharia Law to me!!
“That is why the US government has gone to court to protect the right of women and girls to wear the hijab,” Again… The naive, duped Obama voter says, “Sharia Law? It’ll never happen here…” as she puts on her hijab.
Sublime to ridiculous?
You decide.

Very good blog my friend. I noticed during the speech that Obama was extremely quick with the moslem quotes, each of which he gave instant credit to the "holy" koran. In the three cases where he quoted the Bible, only once did he actually reference it. I am very curious as to how exactly he's gonna divvy up Jerusalem 3 ways (Jewish, Christian and moslem), especially since moslems have no business in Jerusalem. Their ancient HQ was supposed to be Mecca, was it not? Besides, I don't think Israel is just gonna roll over on this one.
As for the war in Iraq, and the "war of choice" comment, what an arrogant fool, this Obama. We liberated that place twice. His selective memory of history is such a wash. He needs to go.
We need to let Israel know that Obama does not speak for us. We the people need to continue to support Israel. We know Israel will not split Jerusalem simply because a community organizer wants to play politics. We need to LET THEM KNOW that we know.
The Obama apology tour continues in Egypt. Laughable.

“For centuries, black people in America suffered the lash of the whip as slaves and the humiliation of segregation.” For CENTURIES? Really. Centuries? We haven’t even been a country but for 233 years.
Good job here too, Suz. You did the math also! In listening to Obama try to get mileage out of the slavery thing, it was funny to hear him chastise the moslems, and of course we the people, for being stuck in the past. He did this several times. (huge laugh) I think he meant less than a century between the time slavery was recognized to have taken place in America and it's end in 1865. No math co-processor in that teleprompter, I guess.
And we'll sue your employer so that Sally can wear a hijab, eh? Laughable again, when Debbie in the next cubicle can't put up an American flag, isn't it? And forget ever wearing a Crucifix outside her dress. But good ol' Sally gets a pass and is OK to go! What a wash!! Get RID of this guy in 2012. We're AMERICANS, and we're NOT apologizing because YOU moslems eat sand! THAT is a choice YOU made!!
Sheesh. Grrrr!!
Great analysis. This speech was very dangerous. It's a sad direction our country is heading.
White guys can't dance, and neither can Obama. I don't know which one is worse.
I could not believe it when I heard this garbage spewing from his mouth this morning. My blood ran cold and I've felt sick all day.
I turned off the TV when he said "all people yearn for certain things: the ability to speak your mind and have a say in how you are governed, confidence in the rule of law and the equal administration of justice, government that is transparent and doesn't steal from the people, the freedom to live as you choose."
What a two-faced, lying, evil, corrupt, fascist, narcissistic, devil he is. God help us all.
Hey Susannah, I beg to differ on a couple points:
“I am also proud to carry with me the goodwill of the American people, and a greeting of peace from Muslim communities in my country: assalaamu alaykum.” Here we go.
What's the big deal? We have a history of American presidents using local dialects as greetings. One of our Presidents said "I am a Berliner" in a local german dialect. Whats the big deal here?
“Moreover, the sweeping change brought by modernity and globalisation led many Muslims to view the west as hostile to the traditions of Islam.” Because so many of their people are living amongst the rubble of war & in caves. They will not stop warring w/ each other long enough to make progress.
Not all Muslims are like this. I seem to remember Christian communities like this in underdeveloped countries & times (dark ages, crusades, etc)...Muslims in developed countries are much different than their extremist counterparts.
“Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality.” And they cut the heads off Jews & Christians. What about gender equality? Or do their women like wearing body-blankets in the dessert?
This is only a minority of Muslims. Should we judge an entire religion based upon a minority? In that case, Christians wear white hoods and burn crosses in black folks' front lawn.
“when the first Muslim-American was recently elected to Congress, took the oath to defend our constitution using the same Holy Koran” He should have used the Bible, as is our historic tradition. Oh forgot, they want us to warm to Sharia Law under the banner of inclusion.
1st of all, what would the Bible mean to a Muslim being confirmed? Use something that DOES mean something to him. 2nd of all: The whole "implementing sharia law" is nothing more than a delusion. There is no proof whatsoever of that happening here.
“Much has been made of the fact that an African-American with the name Barack Hussein Obama could be elected president.” Oops! Should he have said that? I thought nobody was allowed to even know his middle name.
No, people weren't being riduclous by saying "Barack Saddam Hussein Obama." A shared name means nothing. Or was George Washington the same as King George the Tyrant?
“that includes nearly 7 million American Muslims in our country today…” Highly debatable.
I'm not sure of that either.
...Continued:
“Iraq was a war of choice…” Dumb a$#. I'm sorry; apologizing for America's heroism --by OUR OWN PRESIDENT-- just makes me really angry.
This is highly debatable as well. What heroism was here in this war? No invasion of Kuwait here.
He campaigned on this, too. And the Iraqi government has made no secret of the dates they want us out. Our goal was to create a sovereign democratic state, was it not? In that case, we SHOULD leave when they ask us to. It isn't our country.
“But we will support a secure and united Iraq as a partner, and never as a patron.” Why should we NOT seek some form of payment – we freed their country…
Ok, this is the SINGLE worst thing I've seen you write. It is a very ignorant approach, almost blatant imperialism. You're better than this.
“For centuries, black people in America suffered the lash of the whip as slaves and the humiliation of segregation.” For CENTURIES? Really. Centuries? We haven’t even been a country but for 233 years.
Um, 200 years is two centuries. What you also forget is that before we were a country, we were the American Colonies, which had slaves. As early as the 17th century (1600's) American Colonists had African Slaves. That's almost 400 years, Susannah.
“rules on charitable giving have made it harder for Muslims to fulfill their religious obligation. That is why I am committed to working with American Muslims to ensure that they can fulfil zakat.” So, let’s change tax laws to accommodate Muslim law – sounds like Sharia Law to me!!
Again, where is the proof of Sharia law being forced on us? All I see are paranoid delusions in this. Christians are given certain expemptions and such for charitable donations. Why not Muslims?
“That is why the US government has gone to court to protect the right of women and girls to wear the hijab,” Again… The naive, duped Obama voter says, “Sharia Law? It’ll never happen here…” as she puts on her hijab...
This is referring to girls getting in trouble for wearing them. They should have the right to wear something that is religious to them. It isn't a cult; it's one of the big five religions. We should recognize their right to wear what they want. And one more time: No proof of forced Sharia Law here in the United States. No one is making you wear a hijab. But if you should choose to wear one, we are defending your religious freedom to choose such.
RWL~ Thank you for your kind comments! And for the ones you addressed to me @ your blog. Friend, indeed. Excellent points, all; especially the ones about Israel. If I were in their shoes, I'd be feeling pretty darned isolated (if not alienated) right now. They're absolutely not going to roll over, nor should they. I'm behind them 100%, even if our President isn't (& he's not @ his own peril, I might add).
Clay~ Thanks. No, not this white guy, anyway!! I have to admit, I was in a pretty silly mood when I posted him. I had to be, in order to stomach the second half of the post. Comic relief, I guess.
Sandy~ Okay...I'm not quite sure we get where you're coming from...Could you be a little more clear?
James! Beg to differ all you want!
Your first point - not a big deal, just, "Here we go..."
Pt. #2, 3 - Of course they're not! At least my kind neighbor w/ whom I had a lovely discussion @ the pool the other day isn't. (Unless there's a cave in my neighborhood that I don't know about...) Nor the beautiful little girl that I spent this whole school year reading to (in my dau's k'garten class) b/c her mother is Egyptian & can't read English...who also spent the first several months wearing hijab until her husband was well out of the country...
Nobody said anything about the entire religion but you. The problem I have is that the 'moderate Muslims' will NOT speak out against the 'extremists'. That's a BIG problem. As for white hoods & burned crosses - these aren't Christians.
Pt. #4 - Okay, you possibly could have a point here. I'm pointing to American tradition...Also, I didn't say 'implementing Sharia law' - you did. I said 'warm us to it'. Big, sneaky, serpentine difference. No, I'm not delusional - the Brits didn't see it happening either. I'm just trying to call a red flag when I see it.
Pt. #5 - Barak Hussein Obama. A name NOBODY was allowed to say, whisper, or even utter during the campaign. (I said nothing about sharing a name w/ anyone.) My point is that he dis-identified himself w/ Islam for the sake of the campaign. Now, all of a sudden, he's all proud to be so deeply rooted in Islam. Funny, that, no?
Pt. #6 - We're even. I've seen widely conflicting numbers. He clearly went w/ the option that would endear him to his audience.
Pt. #7 - James, this is the SINGLE worst thing (maybe) I've seen you write! No heroism?? Millions of people are now free from a murderous tyrant & they are so b/c of the HEROIC actions of OUR military - invasion of Kuwait notwithstanding.
pt. #8 - "In that case, we SHOULD leave when they ask us to. It isn't our country." Sure, then 'insurgents' will wait @ the borders until the night before, waiting as if it's almost Christmas -- I'm sorry, Ramadan.
pt. #10 (I thought you said only a couple...) - Sorry to disappoint. I'm NOT advocating we stay forever, or try to colonize - don't get me wrong, please. Perhaps the way my husband puts it will be more palatable, "They need to pay us back for the war." (I doubt you're gonna like that option either, though.)
Pt. #11 ~ 400 years of slavery (if you're being generous & adding in pre-1776). Sorry, James, but slavery - as horrible as it was - ended in 1865. (Right, RWL?) Check your math again, friend.
#12 - I never said anything was being "forced onto us". I said Sharia concepts were being introduced, so that we could 'warm' to them. Christian ORGANIZATIONS (not individuals )have tax breaks, as well as Jewish, Muslim, no?
Paranoid delusions? James, do you have a DSM V that you're toying w/? (Well look up the diagnostic criteria for putting words into other people's mouths, please.)
#13 - Okay, okay. My use of nuance has perhaps lost it's edge...I know what the reality is. I'm speaking to the systematic desensitization of our society to principles of Sharia. While girls can wear what they want, it still edges toward what the Brits are already starting to be overtaken by...
Have a nice evening, James. Thanks for your comments!
I am serious when I ask this question.....
Could Obama actually be a terrorist sent in to "Nine-Eleven" our entire country from the inside???
I really do wonder....
Annie: If you truly are serious, then you are also delusional. Maybe he's a bad president. Too early to tell.
But a terrorist? C'mon.
Susannah: I guess I misread your comments then. It did seem to imply that it would be forced upon us...
As for heroism, I believe the soldiers who went were heroic. GWB? Not so much. Us relieving a country of a dictator was not the reason we went. It wasn't the reason he gave (WMDs were, which we never found btw)...
If we really did go for that reason we would have gone to Darfur. Genocide has been occuring and still is. But we haven't done much of anything there.
As for "paying us back for the war" that too is ridiculous. They didn't ask us to fight for them. Regardless, it is imperialistic. Asking for tribute is another way of putting it. We initiated the war.
As for the insurgents taking over later? Oh well. Iraq is a Sovereign Democracy now. They want us out. We need to oblige. As GWB said, "Mission Accomplished."
Susannah, After reading James' criticisms I have done research and had to rethink my initial response to all of this.
James is right. Not all Muslims live amongst the rubble of war and live in caves - that is true only of the 75% of them that live in the Middle Eastern Islamist states.
He's right that only a minority of Muslims are racist and intolerant. Have you not seen the 2006 Pew poll of Muslims living in Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Nigeria, Pakistan, Turkey, France, Germany, Britain and Spain? A majority of the Muslim population in every single one of these countries knows that Muslims did not have anything to do with the 9-11 attacks. They all know that those attacks were performed by either the U.S. gov or Israel and therefore, they ALL still support Osama Bin Laden b/c he is innocent.
And it WAS racist to refer to BO as BHO during his campaign - K Olbermann said so. He said A Coulter was the worst person of the week for doing it and that if you say Hussein "if you're really not racist, you are enabling racism." Don't you know that his middle name isn't Hussein b/c his father was (whisper - muslim)- his mom just liked the ring of it "Barack Hussein Obama". Oh how cute, "Wittle Bawak Husseini"
How DARE you suggest the Iraqis pay for their own liberation? Everyone knows that only rich, white, Republican Americans who didn't vote for BHO have to pay for anything anymore. Duh.
And you don't even know that 233 yrs is 2 centuries. Slavery ended in 1865 so that means, uh, only 89 years of our history as a nation includes slavery. Wait. That is less than a century. Maybe you're right about that one.
No,no,no. James is right. Slavery existed before the U.S. and BHO is not just Pres of the U.S. He is King of the World and will right ALL inequities past, present, and future for all mankind!
Finally, come ON about this Sharia nonsense. You MUST KNOW that BHO would never allow any hint of Sharia to EVER infiltrate U.S. laws. What's he gonna do - nominate a Supreme Court Justice that has had Sharia "life experiences"?
And you don't even know that 233 yrs is 2 centuries. Slavery ended in 1865 so that means, uh, only 89 years of our history as a nation includes slavery. Wait. That is less than a century. Maybe you're right about that one.
To Susannah and Sandy.
James is correct and you two are shockingly disingenuous and dishonest.
This country--when it was a collection of colonies--brought in slaves in the 17th century. You are absolutely wrong to say we only count the years of using slaves when we became a country.
That is the most dishonest thing I have ever read on any blog and it is something I would expect to hear from people wearing white hoods and burning crosses on lawns. UGH!
You are both on the wrong side of history on this subject. And I guarantee you will both live to have to face this.
James is a gentleman for not calling you both racists.
Hatred and prejudice are ugly, ugly vices to live with.
I pity both of you.
Sandy: There are one billion Muslims in the world. Do you really think the majority of them live in caves and/or are terrorists? If you do, you are one ignorant person.
I mistyped. From the 1600s to the 1800s we had slavery. After that we had Jim Crow, segregation, etc. It wasn't until the 1960s that our country began recognizing African-Americans as equals. We STILL have a major problem of Xenophobia evidenced by our treatment of immigrants and in the ignorant attitudes of people like you lumping all Muslims in one category.
So I'd say we are a country that has faced centuries of slavery and centuries of bigoted racism.
You are part of the problem.
Sublime to ridiculous?
You decide.
Ridiculous, of course. As always. Beside Carter, he is the president that belittles this country the most! Shame on him!
Also, Sandy, Susannah: He says: “For centuries, black people in America suffered the lash of the whip as slaves and the humiliation of segregation.”
He says slavery and segregation. So 233 years is a couple of centuries. Hmmm. I believe he was 100% correct. Then if you throw in the colonial days...you have around 400 years!
Okay, I am going to need eye bleach for the dancing guy, then a bucket to puke in due to Obama.
He is pretty much forcing Israel to take action, due to the lack of support from him. And to say that we are a muslin nation, yet not a Christian one is both ridiculous and repulsive.
Wow - this is something to wake up to. First off, sorry Shaw and James if I was offensive in my tone. Perhaps I was too personal using James' name and points or insensitive to the racial tensions that people have regarding the history of slavery and minority oppression. But that doesn't make me ignorant, racist, or a bigot. You all fell right into that liberal stereotype of you make an point, someone makes a couterpoint, you call them an ignorant, racist, bigot. You think you win.
James, there are actually more than 1.6 billion Muslims in the world and the statistic of 75% of them living in poverty is not something I just made up or feel in my heart of hearts. I actually did a little research on it. Granted, it is a hard thing to find data on and the 75% number was from 1997 - a bit dated. If you can come up with more recent or accurate information I would love to have it. Please share.
And as far as the slavery thing goes, did I not state that "slavery existed before the U.S."? I actually agree with you guys on that one. My whole comment was satirical - meant to express disgust with BO's whole speech, its tone, content, intent, whole truths, half truths, lies, whatever.
Shaw: I was very impressed with your arguments here last week re: gay marriage. I agree with most of your points and went to your site after reading them. I was interested in who you are, where you're coming from. I was also interested in the blogs you follow and clicked on one of them because its name piqued my interest. What opened up before me was a VILE, OFFENSIVE excuse of political discourse. The author blatantly stated that he/she had no knowledge of the topic, had read nothing about the topic, but knew it was true b/c BO says so, I believe him, and anyone who disagrees with he and I are (you can guess it) ignorant, racist, bigots. And true to form, there was absolutely no discourse in the comments for any of the posts I looked at. Anytime anyone, however mildly, respectfully, factually, disagreed with this author the only discourse was literally - you're just an ignorant, racist, bigot. So I find it hard to believe that the comments here are "the most dishonest thing" you "have ever read on any blog".
Annie~ Hey there! & Welcome!
Sandy~ Don’t you know that you’re not racist until you dare to challenge the American Propoganda (I mean Media) machine? All those Pew-polled Muslims fall into the ‘line of best fit’. They don’t count. You & I – we’re the outliers, therefore we’re the racists. Don’t forget that!
Shaw~ About anything I say will be ‘shockingly disingenuous & dishonest’ to you, so I’m not worried about the insult. Labeling me & my readers something you don’t know is not nice & I’ll delete from now on. Your Swash friends can castigate & threaten me –unprovoked- on their blog. But not on mine (no, you didn’t threaten, but your friends came darned close). If you’d like to share you perceptions, fine. Don’t label.
Cristina~ You bring up an excellent point. As annoying as he has been lo these many years, at least he waited until he was out of office before throwing his country under the bus!
Shaw & James~ We all know that European & African slave traders engaged in their abominable trade before 1776, perhaps for 200+ years prior.
My point – to which I hold FIRMLY – is that Mr. Obama’s representation of the history of the United States of America was dishonest & incredibly manipulative. He took his World-Wide & Egyptian listeners (who perhaps do not know that our country outlawed slavery a mere 100 years after fighting a Revolution) straight to their worst mental impulse of “lash, whip, slavery, humiliation”. He allowed them to tack it onto the United States of America, w/ no qualifiers whatsoever. Mr. Obama used the very worst scourge on our history to advance himself & align himself w/ people who hate us. He used this terrible time in our history against his own country.
My friends, that makes him not only disingenuous, dishonest, & the worst kind of racist, but a traitor to his country – and president at that. Friends, if you are so blinded by your cult-like loyalty to this man no-matter-what-the-cost, if you can’t open your minds just a fraction & see this, then “I pity both of you” because “hatred & prejudice are ugly, ugly vices to live with”.
CS~ Ouch! Don’t let that get in your eyes! Ha! If I were Israel, I’d be watching my back w/ Obama.
Sandy~ Thanks for your comments. I don't believe that anybody here was trying to be insensitive to our history of minority oppression. My statement was directed @ the manipulation Obama used, as explained above & how he used it against the USA in order to 'get in good' w/ those who don't like us. He could have used the slavery/minority oppression issue in SUCH a different way.
I, too, have been interested in Shaw, et. al's blog. I have been there & found several things that were stimulating & thought provoking. James' blog equally so - if not more. He does engage in sincere thoughtful commenting.
Folks, et's try to keep things that way here, please.
You omitted the eye bleach warning.
Some call it pandering and some call it prostitution.
Great post. The body blanket in the dessert killed me.
Susannah typed: "My friends, that makes him not only disingenuous, dishonest, & the worst kind of racist, but a traitor to his country – and president at that. Friends, if you are so blinded by your cult-like loyalty to this man no-matter-what-the-cost, if you can’t open your minds just a fraction & see this, then “I pity both of you” because “hatred & prejudice are ugly, ugly vices to live with”."
Susannah you just encouraged people who come here to read your blog to keep things "stimulating and thought provoking."
Then you accuse the President of the United States of being a racist AND a traitor to his country, without one jot of evidence to back it up.
When you make serious charges like that, you should have facts to back your charges up available for people to examine. Your opinion of Mr. Obama, BTW, does NOT count as fact.
Giving a speech you PERSONALLY do not like does not make Mr. Obama a racist nor is it treasonous.
Your casual use of those very serious words and accusations is unacceptable--especially when you do not back up the accusations with proof.
You give us your opinion, which is not fact. You can have your own opinions but you cannot have your own facts.
How would you feel if I were to accuse YOU of being a traitor to America on my blog without any evidence to back that up?
I could do so and announce to my readers--I have more than a few--that Susannah is a traitor to her country and a racist; and just as you have failed to back those statements up regarding the president, I don't need to back that accusation up regaarding you.
If you truly believe Mr. Obama is a traitor to his country, why don't you call your Representative and Senators in your state and ask them to immediately bring articles of impeachment against Mr. Obama for his treason.
If you fail to do so, your above statements are nothing but blather and the hysterical rantings of a dishonest person.
Treason is a crime against the United States of America, punishable in some instances by death.
I challenge you to call your Congressional representatives and present them with evidence of Mr. Obama's treason.
Those are your words, your accusations, and no one else's.
I'll be waiting to see if you put your actions where your accusation are.
And I reserve the right to accuse you of racism and treason on my blog, just as you have accused Mr. Obama, baselessly, on yours.
Hi Suzanne. Great, great post. I've sent it around to several key people. You've been given a hard time recently and this post proves why. When you speak or point out the truth, people hate it. The truth hurts. In our politically correct world, we aren't suppose to acknowledge when our heritage is being trampled. We're suppose to embrace anything. Not me. And from the comments of your followers, not them either. Keep standing on both feet. You'll take a hit once in a while, but for good reason. And because you are doing the right thing.
Sandy: I guess I missed your satirical tone. I took your comments as literal; caves and such. 75% of Muslims may indeed live in poverty, but I doubt that all of those live in caves and are terrorists.
Susannah: Politicians use many things to advance themselves. I read the entire transcript of his speech, and it sounded like he was using to advance our country. He challenges their negative perceptions of the US. He also faces our negative stereotypes of Islam. He says that both sides have negative blights on their history, but should move beyond those. He talks about our many freedoms and the fact that we don't have slavery anymore, as evidenced by the fact that he is President.
Promoting peace with Islam is not being a "traitor" to this country. We are not at war with Islam. We are at war with terrorism.
Also, he DOES say "Holy Bible" Susannah.
The Holy Koran tells us: “O mankind! We have created you male and a female; and we have made you into nations and tribes so that you may know one another.”
The Talmud tells us: “The whole of the Torah is for the purpose of promoting peace.”
The Holy Bible tells us: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” (Applause.)
The people of the world can live together in peace. We know that is God’s vision. Now that must be our work here on Earth.
Also, Susannah, while there are those who blindly follow anything Obama says, there is an equally dangerous attitute from the right: Obama Derangement: where those on the right will criticize anything and everything Obama says or does, no matter what.
And that is intellectually lazy. Read the entire transcript. In context, Obama is promoting the US. But one can take a line out of any speech and paint the speaker as something opposite to which he or she is.
Here's the video and transcript:
http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/20090604_obama_speaks_to_the_muslim_world/
Sorry, I posted it twice so I deleted the copy.
Obama’s apologizing for being dictatorial … to Hugo Chavez, Evo Morales, and the Castros. As for “dictat[ing] our terms,” we used to call that defending American interests. When negotiating, people try to get the best terms for themselves. We didn’t send gunboats to Venezuela or Bolivia during the Bush administration, and the only people seizing assets over the last eight years have been the Venezuelans under Chavez.
Once again, we have the new President embarking on the “We Suck ‘09″ tour, kicked off in Europe, where he felt the need to apologize for the last administration’s efforts to defend America’s interests on the international stage. Obama likes to call this “smart power” and tells us we’ll get more by appearing humble than by pursuing our interests in the normal fashion. So far, the rest of the world has applauded Obama’s performance — and gone on to reject our requests for economic cooperation, combat troops for Afghanistan, partnership with Russia against Iran, and North Korean continuation of the six-party nuclear disarmament talks without launching long-range missiles over Japan.
GREAT bunch of quotes, but you missed the one that REALLY jumped out at me as I listened live ....at 4 AM here!!
Something like "As president, it is my job to make sure negative things don't get said about islam around the world.."
Did anybody YOU know vote for that? Was it a campaign promise!!
I'm going to try to find that quote..........ain't it cute? (not!)
xxx
La Shawn:
"...and the only people seizing assets over the last eight years have been the Venezuelans under Chavez."
You're joking, right?
Iraq has the world's second largest proven oil reserves. According to oil industry experts, new exploration will probably raise Iraq's reserves to 200+ billion barrels of high-grade crude, extraordinarily cheap to produce. The four giant firms located in the US and the UK have been keen to get back into Iraq, from which they were excluded with the nationalization of 1972.
During the final years of the Saddam era, they envied companies from France, Russia, China, and elsewhere, who had obtained major contracts. But UN sanctions (kept in place by the US and the UK) kept those contracts inoperable.
Since the invasion and occupation of Iraq in 2003, much has changed. In the new setting, with Washington running the show, "friendly" companies expect to gain most of the lucrative oil deals that will be worth hundreds of billions of dollars in profits in the coming decades. The Iraqi constitution of 2005, greatly influenced by US advisors, contains language that guarantees a major role for foreign companies.
Negotiators hope soon to complete deals on Production Sharing Agreements that will give the companies control over dozens of fields, including the fabled super-giant Majnoon.

"And I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear." Here it is...WHAT THE........?
Also, check THIS out, very strange choice of words:"So I have known Islam on three continents before coming to the region where it was first revealed."
I'm going to blog on this..that BUGS me. xx
Z: Again, you are posting out of context.
Just a few paragraphs before this he talks about his experiences on three continents:
Now part of this conviction is rooted in my own experience. I’m a Christian, but my father came from a Kenyan family that includes generations of Muslims. As a boy, I spent several years in Indonesia and heard the call of the azaan at the break of dawn and at the fall of dusk. As a young man, I worked in Chicago communities where many found dignity and peace in their Muslim faith.
And he talks about our negative stereotypes of Islam, and their negative stereotypes of us:
But that same principle must apply to Muslim perceptions of America. (Applause.) Just as Muslims do not fit a crude stereotype, America is not the crude stereotype of a self-interested empire. The United States has been one of the greatest sources of progress that the world has ever known. We were born out of revolution against an empire. We were founded upon the ideal that all are created equal, and we have shed blood and struggled for centuries to give meaning to those words—within our borders, and around the world. We are shaped by every culture, drawn from every end of the Earth, and dedicated to a simple concept: E pluribus unum—“Out of many, one.”
USA~ Do you think I should post a little disclaimer right under my title? ;) Thanks for the encouragement. You can see we need all we can get, huh?
Shaw~ "When you make serious charges like that, you should have facts to back your charges up available for people to examine..."
I gave my rationale, which was clear. I'm not giving testimony before Congress. I'm writing my blog. I do believe what he's doing is traitorous (you said treason, not me).
Don't EVEN GET ME STARTED about baseless & "casual use of very serious words" when referencing a President. It'll just make me giggle...How does it feel to have someone call your President something not-so-complimentary that you don't agree w/? Please - I'm starting to snicker at that even as I type...
I BASE my opinion on my internal logic & facts (which more than a lot of bloggers I read). You are welcome here, but if you don't like my opinion, why come?
"And I reserve the right to accuse you of racism and treason on my blog, just as you have accused Mr. Obama, baselessly, on yours."
Whatever. I didn't call YOU racist or a traitor. Your logic is flawed: my opinion of Mr. Obama is not synonymous w/ my opinion of you. It doesn't make sense, unless you're so completely idendified w/him that you cannot separate yourself. Which I wouldn't have thought true until you threatened me w/ that...(No, I didn't say you threatened bodily harm...don't get all 'blech' on me!)
Mary~ Thank you, thank you. As you can see, I must have struck a nerve to be getting all this flack. A comment coming from someone like you means more than you know.
James~ How could you have possibly missed Sandy's tone? Oh well, that's btwn you & her I guess.
I teased through the speech in its entirety in order to write this piece, but thanks for the link anyway.
Also, you are right, as my dear Lisa (previous post) said just yesterday - "there are crazies on both sides" - & it is intellectual laziness. People are people.
La Shawn~ Welcome! So glad you came by. "We Suck Tour '09" Love it!
Z~ So glad you could join us! "So I have known Islam on three continents before coming to the region where it was first revealed." (where did that quote come from, this speech?) If it did, I missed it. I'm sorry; that just sends a shiver down my spine...
And James - I didn't say or imply that we're @ war w/ Islam...
But you did call his speech traitorous. I didn't find anything traitorous in promoting peace with 1.6 billion people that we aren't at war with. But you call that traitorous.
Susannah typed:
"I gave my rationale, which was clear. I'm not giving testimony before Congress. I'm writing my blog. I do believe what he's doing is traitorous (you said treason, not me)."
Susannah, you apparently don't know the meaning of the words you use. Here is the dictionary's definition of "traitorous."
traitorous - having the character of, or characteristic of, a traitor; "the faithless Benedict Arnold"; "a lying traitorous insurrectionist"
faithless, treasonable, treasonous,
Then you go on to say that you base your opinion on your "internal logic & facts..."
No, Susannah, you can't get off that easily.
You accused the president of the United States of being treasonous/traitorous (they are synonymous, as I have pointed out to you, see? You can learn something new every day!)
Your internal logic and facts are desperately wanting--you have shown none--no logic; no facts.
Your weak argument of Nyah, nyah, nyah--liberals called Bush names, so I can accuse Obama of being a traitor and racist, doesn't wash.
You have children. If they came to you and said they're allowed to call some kid on the school bus an a**hole, because that kid called them that name, you'd say--"Go right ahead! It's only fair?"
But that's exactly what you just rationalized! Do you teach your children one thing, and then practice the opposite?
And just because you didn't call ME a traitor and racist, doesn't excuse your inexcusable accusation against Mr. Obama, backed up by nothing but your internal logic and "facts."
Where are the FACTS that back up your accusation that Mr. Obama is a racist and a traitor?
Words have consequences. You're on a public forum. Anyone can come here and read what you wrote. Yes it's your blog. But it appears you're using it to stir up hatred and contempt toward Mr. Obama.
Just like certain people on the rabid right stirred up hatred against Dr. Tiller, so much so that it empowered a maniac to commit murder.
You wouldn't want to have people accuse you of inciting violence against the president, would you?
If you truly believe Obama is a traitor, then some crazy out there may find it necessary to do something about it.
Words do have consequences, Susannah.
(Let's try again for clarity's sake)
"I didn't find anything traitorous in promoting peace with 1.6 billion people that we aren't at war with."
That's not my characterization of it, but yours. We've found another point about which we disagree. Fine. Thanks for spending some time here.
Susannah, it's more than a disagreement. It was you picking out things in his speech to be against, nitpicking. Is there anything he's done that you CAN agree on? If not, then you should really consider whether or not you are suffering from Obama Derangement. I wasn't a fan of Bush, but I can name things that he did well. Can you do the same for Obama?
Also, it IS more than just a simple disagreement. How was he NOT promoting peace with them? It's a far cry from the past "Islamofascists" terminology and idealogy we used from 2001-2008. I didn't see any examples of inciting language in his speech (except for calling the Palestinians on their terrorism).
James~ To answer your question: see my Nov. 5th post. Maybe that'll give you better insight to my perspective.
I wasn't crazy about John McCain, but I was & am absolutely against (almost) everything BO stands for politically.
He does have a lovely wife & beautiful children. And his dog seems cute.
Please, see the 11-5 post.
I have read your post from 11/5.
In it, you write: "Since Bush/Gore 2000, disaffected citizens & media seem to have assumed a solemn duty to tear down the presidency of George W. Bush."
That is precisely my point, Susannah. But now you are doing the same from the other side. You are finding something to complain about in EVERYTHING Obama does, even going so far as to label him treasonous.
Many of Obama's policies are good, such as promoting peace. But you are against (almost) everything about him. Ask yourself, why is that? Is it the flip side of Bush Derangment Syndrome?
The Obama supporters have hope, but no change.
And the economy continues to suck the entire country into a depression.
This chit is getting old.
No James. A person who has "Obama Derangement" would not be able to say this,
"I listened intently as I watched President-elect Obama. Throughout this campaign, I’ve been keenly aware of the bitter-sweet paradoxes that he represents. I ‘get’ why so many are drawn to him & inspired by his message. Never was it so clear as last night’s speech, delivered with a measure of humility not before seen in his countenance, & received with that same measure of humility by a throng of deeply grateful citizens. The gravity of the moment, & of history, had truly fallen upon the crowd. They all seemed aware, as I was, of the precious cornerstone of victory over our nation’s troubled past that Mr. Obama’s win signifies. I get that" (GTBI 11-5-09)
and mean it. I said it. I meant it. I still do.
However, I stand in direct opposition to his government panacea policies. I like that he seems to truly love his wife & daughters, & they him. That is tremendously admirable, esp. in today's society.
I think he is a tremendous public speaker, I just don't like what he says most of the time. I like his emphasis on service to others - I just don't think it should come through government. I like his notion that we should have world peace, I just don't think it should come at the expense of the sovereignty of our own nation. I like that he claims to be Christian - just not how he claims we're not a Christian nation, but a "nation of citizens who hold values...". I like that his wife is proud of her husband. I don't like that she dissed her country in order to say how proud she was of him. I like that his daughters will grow up thinking how wonderful a country we live in that 2 little black girls grew up in the White House, & how far we've come in so relatively short time as a nation. I fear, though, that we won't even recognize this country as the one which made such vast progress by the time his girls are grown...
Shall I go on? (Probably not. It'll just bore the others & continue to rattle your cage.)
We disagree on what our country should be, what it should become & how to get it there.
I guess you're right after all, James, it's much more than a simple disagreement after all.
Susannah, these are the words you typed and for which I am asking you to produce evidence:
My point – to which I hold FIRMLY – is that Mr. Obama’s representation of the history of the United States of America was dishonest & incredibly manipulative.
I challenge you to find anything dishonest or manipulative about what he said.
"Palestinians must abandon violence. Resistance through violence and killing is wrong and does not succeed. For centuries, black people in America suffered the lash of the whip as slaves and the humiliation of segregation. But it was not violence that won full and equal rights. It was a peaceful and determined insistence upon the ideals at the center of America's founding. This same story can be told by people from South Africa to South Asia; from Eastern Europe to Indonesia. It's a story with a simple truth: that violence is a dead end. It is a sign of neither courage nor power to shoot rockets at sleeping children, or to blow up old women on a bus. That is not how moral authority is claimed; that is how it is surrendered."
His statement was about non-violence, and the scourge of violence on a people's character, His statement about slaves suffering the "lash of the whip" is accurate and the absolute truth.
What is treasonous about that? It is part of our American history, which we eventually corrected.--S.K.
Susannah said: "He took his World-Wide & Egyptian listeners (who perhaps do not know that our country outlawed slavery a mere 100 years after fighting a Revolution) straight to their worst mental impulse of “lash, whip, slavery, humiliation”. He allowed them to tack it onto the United States of America, w/ no qualifiers whatsoever."
Excuse me, but he did no such thing. What he said is the truth, and the world knows that this country tolerated "the lash and the whip's" use on human beings while other nations rejected it.
Your problem seems to be that you don't want to be reminded of our sins--keep them hidden and no one will find out that we spent years humiliating and lashing slaves?--S.K.
Susannah said: "Mr. Obama used the very worst scourge on our history to advance himself & align himself w/ people who hate us."
This is your own convoluted opinion. He did nothing of the sort. He used the example as a reminder that change came through nonviolence, even though Americans practiced violence toward its own citizens.--S.K.
Susannah wrote: "He used this terrible time in our history against his own country."
Susannah, Mr. Obama spoke the truth and used this period in our history as an example of change, change from evil to righteousness.
No one else but you and your fellow travelers who promote hate would see it any other way. Shame.
Susannah added: "My friends, that makes him not only disingenuous, dishonest, & the worst kind of racist, but a traitor to his country – and president at that."
No, Ma'am, you need to examine your conscience and find out why you would accuse the President of the United States of treason and being a racist for telling the truth about our history.
Your false accusations may win you praise from the other hate-deranged people who come here and pat you on your self-righteous back, but I guarantee if you were to take this argument anywhere else, you'd be shunned and avoided.
Shame.
I cannot express enough how much Hussein hates and disrespects our country. And he is doing, and will do, anything to destroy our liberties and way of life. He has exposed us to the evils of the world by his posturing as a 'healer' of world problems. By doing that, and reducing our defense spending and programs, we are more open to attack than ever..I will not listen to a word Barack Obama reads off the teleprompter, I will not read a word written about any of Barack Obama's teleprompter readings, I will not read analysis of any statement attributed to Barack Obama. I ran out of time for pathological liberal liars like him.
I hope there's room under that bus for Israel!
By the way...Bob's comment was excellent. I agree with everything that he wrote.
Bob, seeing as you copied and pasted that comment on my blog, I'll reiterate what I said there: You have a preconceived idea about Obama, and nothing can dissuade you. You stating you will not hear a word our President says is like the child plugging his ears, closing his eyes, and chanting "nah nah nah, can't hear you!"
Grow up.
Bob~ Glad you came by! You've got some discussions of your own going on!
RisR~ I know what you mean re: the bus & Israel. I do surely hope there's not room. They're not gonna put up w/ that - as we wouldn't have...once upon a time...Thanks for teasing through this discussion with us.
James~ Hang in there. Maybe Bob has truly heard enough...I think that's what he said...
My problem here is that not only is he trolling, copying and pasting his comments everywhere, but he IS being like a child.
Much of the right movement is following suit. Just like in the Clinton era, the right and especially religious right will hold up their candidate (Bushes I & II) as if they are practically holy, but any Democrat elected is "evil" and liberal.
And saying that they won't listen to a word the candidate they didn't vote for is childish and partisan, not to mention ignorant. The phrase "dittohead" comes to mind.
Wow, I guess the day I spent traveling back and forth to Fort Hood to see the wife was well spent.
I see you forgot to put up the No-Pest strip with the picture of Marx on the outside. That would have taken care of you're shaw problem and done the blogosphere a favor.
Instead, you let her/him/it talk and end up with a twenty page manifesto in response to everything you have a difference of opinion with them on.
James, I still think you should switch parties. I really don't think you are socially or fiscally conservative. The demo donkey party is a much better fit for you since you seem to bad mouth Repubs a lot and post pictures making fun of them.
bravo!
pitbull, where have I put up pictures making fun of Republicans? I've only done it once; making fun of Cheney for his neo-conservativism is quite different.
I don't bad-mouth all republicans. As I said, I am critical of the things I believe the party is doing wrong. I'm on one side of the debate/civil war raging in the GOP. You're on the other. It's fine. I'm socially moderate, somewhat liberal. But fiscally? I am fiscally conservative.
What this has to do with this post, I don't know. But it's cool. Discussion and disagreement forces us to confront our own opinions and learn to back them up.
Hey lamebrain James Muse I hope you're enjoying a sunny and relaxing weekend. But don't take in too much sun, because I think you have over done it already!
In regard to the "slam" you just took at me... I don't know why I am even bothering to answer you but I'll try and I'll answer in very plain and simple words that are not longer than 4 or 5 letters so that you will be able to understand...(maybe)
Posting the same message on more than one blog is NOT trolling.... especially when MY post fits the topic on hand.
You don't seem to understand anything that is not taken from the comic books where YOU obviously get your information. As I have seen on many other blogs, you respond to a comment as if you have your head up your behind. So don't go around calling ME a troll.
You know, deep down, who you are. Deep inside your liberal mind you are a pee-brained Obama suck-up! You and I both know it so you don't have to be ashamed.
There are no lies in my posts and you know it. I tell it like I see it. I don't go around to all the Liberal blogs and suck up as you do.
NEXT!
Now that I wiped that brown smudge off of James Muse's nose, let me get to the topic at hand..
Sotomajor belongs to LA RAZA -the Race. Liberals try to say that this doesn’t mean what it obviously means; which is the equivalent of saying that “One People, One Empire, One Leader” (Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Fuehrer) doesn’t mean what it obviously means.
Obama says that she would rephrase the comment.
The sad part is that it’s not the word nor the phrase. It is the thought and intent. In her mind, she meant what her words said. No degree of spin or rephrasing can change that.
I love it when people think that because someone has liberal leanings that they are going to “interpret” the constitution. It’s not hard to interpret. Take it literally. Why can’t you believe what they say was exactly what they said? That’s the problem with people these days. The Constitution isn’t a prop from the movie “National Treasure”. It isn’t a “living document” subject to the limp wristed liberals to change because it feels good to them. It was written to be unbroken.
And as for the Latino's, Where was the Hispanic outrage when the democrats raked Miguel Estrada over the coals? There would have been a very well qualified Hispanic on the bench already if it wasn’t for the Democrats and you want to try and give them Texas. You think the Democrats care for Hispanics? Get real. They have got you suckered hook, line, and sinker. What a fish you liberals are. They cast their bait and reel you right in. The major difference between Sotomayer & Estrada? She’s a Democrat and he’s not.
Susannah, I love your blog..
And Bob.. I love the way you express yourself. Don't ever change. I loved your 2 comments above, you said it all. Thank you, those were my sentiments as well.
Obama shunned the Leaders of France and Germany, and kissed up to the Musslims
So IMO I'd say Obama's loyalties lay with Islam and not the west given his upbringing and his associates, not to mention his books.
Father: Muslim with communist leanings.
Step-father: Muslim with communist leanings.
Mother: radical hippie with communist leanings.
Preacher: USA hating, black "liberation theology" nonsense.
Good friend: William Ayers, radical, hippie terrorist.
Hmm, Oh yes he's a "good American" isn't he?
James Muse Of all the posts here, yours really touched my heart the most...
Obama really thinks he is ordained to be Emperor of the World.. That is why, although he's only in office for 4 months he is dissing the USA. Because he's looking forward to bigger things. No wonder he's putting down our nation everyday. This is exactly what the rest of the world wants to hear.
This is simple liberal appeasment and fear of confrontation.Obama's a spineless weasel who will never take a firm stance on a controversial issue. He threw Israel under the bus while in Cairo then goes to Germany to condemn the Nazi prison camps and holocost.Constantly playing both sides against the middle.
Didn't he say during the campaign that Iran can't have nukes? Saying Iran should be allowed to have nuclear power for energy purposes is a simple talking point of the far left. You have to be cazy or don't care to think they won't secretly enrich. They're not going to let anyone in there as watchdogs.
Anybody that really believes this CRAP, get your head examined!
Also. I'd like to add my own kudos to Bob and what he said.
"And I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear."
James...i don't care what the context is...it's NOT our president's "responsibility".
And yes, Susannah, "revealed" is in the speech. Many have commented on it, and it's a word that works but isn't one usually used except in Islam
Bob, calling me "liberal" because you disagree with me is nothing. I've been called worse. You're still a troll. This post has nothing to do with Sotomayor.
I have no desire to "one-up" each other in slams and such. I was merely pointing out that you are trolling, spewing your opinions all over the place and reposting it on blogs no matter what the post is regarding. I don't mind disagreement, as Susannah can attest, because we disagree on much, yet we still seem to have an intelligent dialogue.
Something you seem to be lacking so far, Bob. If you would like to have an intelligent dialogue I would welcome it. But name calling won't get you very far.
Bluepit~ Welcome! Traveling to see your spouse ALWAYS takes precedence over blogs! Glad you're here.
JungleMom~ Thanks for stopping by, & thanks for your 'word'!
Bob & James~ I guess I'm out of the loop b/c I don't know who left-what-at-whose blog. You two seem to be having a go @ each other, though. Try to stay gentlemanly, if you can. Glad you're both here. Thank you for hanging in, James & for joining us, Bob. (Oh, Bob, there was a duplicate of one of your comments. I took it off.)
James~ I think you're right. You don't bad-mouth all Republicans. Not Arlen Specter type, anyway. ;)
RisR~ Thanks for the kind compliment. I'm glad you're here. VERY interesting to see the Obama 'family tree' - as it were...Didn't realize just how Red it is... ouch.
DD2~ Yippee! You're here! "No wonder he's putting down our nation everyday. This is exactly what the rest of the world wants to hear." That's part of what I was trying to say - oh, so many comments ago! :)
EE~ Welcome! "He threw Israel under the bus while in Cairo then goes to Germany to condemn the Nazi prison camps and holocost." INDEED! Didn't he say something like, "We must confront evil..." in Germany, when he had just left the place from whence terrorists arise saying something like - 'we all just need to understand each other' GIVE ME A BREAK!
Confront Evil, Mr. Obama - GO BACK to the land you just left & confront THEM who sponsor terrorists, whose religion who WILL NOT SPEAK OUT against its own extremism. And then, go back & apologize to Germany for being so darned patronizing of them & their remorse.
Thanks, Eric, for bringing up this point.
For those who didn't catch it, Z posted these quotes from 'the speech':
"And I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear."
"So I have known Islam on three continents before coming to the region where it was first revealed."
WRONG on the first count & CREEPY on the second...
Thanks Z~
James~ "I don't mind disagreement...because we disagree on much, yet we still seem to have an intelligent dialogue." I'm glad you think so. I do.
Having intelligent dialog is a wonderful thing. But Susannah your opinions must be quite threatening to some people to have all these point by point disagreements with everything you are saying. Amazing. As far as our president goes, he rarely says anything I would regard as speaking for me. And it's really hard to take when he does it in foreign lands.
You know, Susannah , sometimes I wonder if some people know their left from their right.
James wrote that comment about ME posting the same comment on your blog as I did on his blog... So what? Big Deal! And for that he called me a "troll" and in bad faith he tried to damage my integrity . His whole goal is to destroy my integrity by trying to sat that I cut and paste!
I saw him do a similar thing to "Right is Right" on another blog.
https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=1883838569462983439&postID=1224235454535869291
Who the hell does he think he is, insulting other posters like that. He thinks that his STUPID and uninformed, comments and opinions are so sacred that everyone else's is a troll! Well I for one won't that that crap from him or anyone else that calls me names! Especially from a closet LIB! I never addressed a comment to him so why does he have is panties in a wad? Democrats and Liberals Piss Me Off! Especially the ones that are Muslim lovers and defenders. Like James!
Amen Bob... I totally agree with you.
James does the same thing all over the place to others. As he has done to me as well.
"Sublime to ridiculous?"
Is Right!
I think all this speech does is give our enemies the feeling that we are weak under The One’s leadership. We had much the same with both Carter and Clinton and we know how that turned out. I somehow doubt Hamas, the Hezzies, Iran, North Korea, and the Taliban will be moved by The One’s rhetoric and lay down arms. Equating the Holocaust with the Palestinian plight is absurd. He really wasn’t all the forceful in indicating that Israel has a right to exist as a nation other than the Palestinians should also have their own nation state as a consolation. Do they really think that everyday Arabs are going to rise up and tell Hamas and Hezzbolah to give it up and get a life. As of a day or so ago, their official line was the elimination of Israel. I suspect it still is. He seems intent on throwing Israel under the bus for the sake of a solution. Anyone that bought this crap has to be a liberal or a fool.
And let me put my 2 cents in about this guy James' Muse. This LIB apologist says the same thing about every conser4vitive who posts on every blog..
For example:
I just read where he posted this...
"James' Muse said...
LaShawn is a troll-turd. I've seen this same post on a couple blogs."
So James, Who is the REAL TROLL? I think that You are.
Besides, Bob is my kind of guy!!
BetteJo~ Hey! "your opinions must be quite threatening to some people to have all these point by point disagreements with everything you are saying. Amazing." Notice when I stopped acknowledging, they stopped? Interesting. I guess some just want to pick fights. And I'm w/ you - I really find it hard to listen to him & I cringe when he 'speaks for me'.
Bob~ Please don't worry about it in the least. Your integrity's safe w/ me, & w/ the readers here from the support I see.
I don't even care if you posted the same comment elsewhere. I just wish I would've thought to do the same thing. Some days, it would have saved me a lot of typing.
I thought your original comment was great. And this part, "I ran out of time for pathological liberal liars like him..."
I'm getting pretty darned close to the same place myself, Bob. After last week's speech, I'm so angry I could chew nails...
Thank you for hanging in over here!
Jersey~ So glad you came over! My college RM (previous post) was from Hillsdale (Bergen County).
James & I have had some intense discussions (right James?), but not what you & Bob have experienced.
The only guy I've had real trouble w/ has only been here once, & said things so insulting & obnoxious that I had to delete it. Otherwise, I guess people's comments will have to speak for themselves. That's what they came to do, right? And I don't care if people cut & paste the same comment on 50 different blogs! Like I said - saves time! :)
Myfiles~ You're exactly right, Hamas & Hezbollah are coming into power. BO even acknowledged them in his speech, as if they're a real political group rather than a bunch of militant terrorist thugs! And Israel is right in their sights...very scary. RWL said it - we MUST stay on the side of Israel. We MUST!
Bob, I apologize for calling you names. But you did come to my blog and post the same thing you posted here. Let's move on from this, please.
My files, LaShawn was posting the same comment all over the place, regardless of what the post was. That's exactly what a troll is. Taking over a post with their opinion on something else.
Bob, Right is Right insulted me first when I asked for clarification of her comment. I told her that insulting me was intellectually lazy, which it is.
Let's stop the insulting and go back to intelligent dialogue. I think Susannah would appreciate it.
Consider me in your corner Bob!
Great comment..
James, you sound like an idiot with that comment... whats the problem with someone making the same comment on two blogs?
Thats not trolling.. it is perfectly acceptable and correct, so you can imagine the level of your lack of intelligence in your foolish post..
Save your arguments and you comments UNTIL you actually have one. ...
James' Muse said...
"Bob, I apologize for calling you names. But you did come to my blog and post the same thing you posted here."
SO WHAT!
Susannah typed: "RWL said it - we MUST stay on the side of Israel. We MUST!"
Did you actually listen to or read the entire speech? Mr. Obama said the ties that bind America to Israel can never be broken.
What part of that statement is unclear? What part of Mr. Obama's statement above suggests anything but total support for Israel?
I have to be blunt here and make an observation: People who hate Mr. Obama will pick and choose those things that appear to be negative and those same people will ignore the positive things they actually would agree with.
That's dishonest.
PS. IHTSI, James is correct. Bob posted a comment not related to Susannah's topic. That's called trolling.
I guess Susannah tolerates trolling. Most blogs do not.
And You are who? The Queen of troll definitions?
Besides you view of Obambies speech about Israel is all wet.
You see everything that that creep with dumbo ears as the gospel. Well here's some news for you. Not everyone else does!
If Bob tell it like it is and it's anything negative about the "Apologist in chief", you get you panties in a wad.. Well that's just too bad. This is not your blog Sista!
Shaw Kenawe said...
"PS. IHTSI, James is correct. Bob posted a comment not related to Susannah's topic. That's called trolling.

Wow, we have the blog police on board..
Susannah do you tolerate "budinskies/busybodies"..
LOL
Get real Shaw, we are not 1st graders here.
Well at least most of us aren't
Excellent post! I really don't have anything new to add that hasn't already been said! Spot on Susannah!!!
James~ My comment stack is getting a little high...
Folks, a slightly diff. take on this samy discussion is on @ James' place now...
ImHere~ LOVE your sense of humor!
Amer.Girl~ So glad you've joined us! Fun, huh? :)
MACW~ Thanks. Glad you've joined us!
Thanks, everyone, for such interesting & scintillating discussion! You're all welcome to come back any time!

Don't you hate it when these leftist nut jobs think they know it all?
I have a message for you Obama toadies.. You Obamamaniackes can do no wrong. Biden in your eyes isn’t a bumbling gaffe machine, Obama picked him. Geithner isn’t a tax cheat who is too stupid to do even his own taxes, Obama picked him. Sebelious isn’t a tax scofflaw, Obama picked her. Richardson isn’t a crook, Obama picked him. Rev Wright isn’t an anti American bigot, Obama sat in his pew in his church. Bill Ayers isn’t a terrorist, he’s a neighbor of Obama. And these Obamaphile toadies are PROUD of their stand! They have the onions to lift their heads and mock others?
And by the way.. Michelle's face resembles a horse.
And as for Sotemayor, I don’t have a problem if she is gay. I have a problem if the person is selected BECAUSE he or she is gay, as may be the came with her...
It’s one thing to say that perfectly qualified nominees are being barred from serving because of their demographics, and that you’re willing to nominate someone despite their profile. It’s another thing to say that you’re nominating someone for their profile, despite their qualifications.
The Left was infuriated about Clarence Thomas, by the same premise. They argued that he was selected only because he was a black conservative. But in the process, they showed how political they were, since they got the demographic they wanted, but not the ideology. They only care about the demographics when it serves their political purpose.
If the person is otherwise qualified, their orientation doesn’t bother me. But they have to be qualified. Ms. Sotemayor is not.
I second What Anonymous said..
"And by the way.. Michelle's face resembles a horse."--Anonymous
Typed by a horse's ass.
Takes one to know one...
And both you and Anonymous seems to know one when you see one.
The guy that calls himself "Truth"
Although I call him something else said
"I support all who serve our Nation in the Armed Forces. I will proudly pay more taxes to see that they are the best trained and equipped fighting force in the world. Regardless of whether I agree with the mission our President sends them on or not"
I say.. Talk is CHEAP, and so is Bull-Shit.
Many people here have been through war and many others have served This country in peace time. Please don't stain their good word and service with your BS!
If you are not conservative, you will not get my vote,or my family`s or any of my friends.
i will not vote for Mitt.Huck.Newt or any Rino.I also voted for Sarah last election. The Rino`s better wake up.We are fed up with them standing around doing nothing while Obama is destroying Everything in America. They are what helped get him elected in the first place.
I agree with what The Eyes Of An Angel said... 100 percent.
Good comment.
