Docker's GETS IT!!

I. Love. This. Ad campaign.

Congratulations, Docker's ~ You DO get it! We need Heroes.

Once you 'get' what the problem is, you're well on your way to solving it. I, for one, am terribly gratified. (And all my men are getting Docker's for Christmas.)

Since their website wouldn't let me copy the pic. (see link above), here's the message:

"ONCE UPON A TIME, MEN WORE THE PANTS, AND WORE THEM WELL. WOMEN RARELY HAD TO OPEN DOORS AND LITTLE OLD LADIES NEVER CROSSED THE STREET ALONE. MEN TOOK CHARGE BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THEY DID. BUT SOMEWHERE ALONG THE WAY, THE WORLD DECIDED IT NO LONGER NEEDED MEN. DISCO BY DISCO, LATTE BY FOAMY NON-FAT LATTE, MEN WERE STRIPPED OF THEIR KHAKIS AND LEFT STRANDED ON THE ROAD BETWEEN BOYHOOD AND ANDROGYNY. BUT TODAY, THERE ARE QUESTIONS OUR GENDERLESS SOCIETY HAS TO ANSWER FOR. THE WORLD SITS IDLY BY AS CITIES CRUMBLE, CHILDREN MISBEHAVE AND THOSE LITTLE OLD LADIES REMAIN ON ONE SIDE OF THE STREET. FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE BAD GUYS, WE NEED HEROES. WE NEED GROWN-UPS. WE NEED MEN TO PUT DOWN THE PLASTIC FORK, STEP AWAY FROM THE SALAD BAR AND UNTIE THE WORLD FROM THE TRACKS OF COMPLACENCY. IT'S TIME TO GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY. IT'S TIME TO ANSWER THE CALL OF MANHOOD. IT'S TIME TO WEAR THE PANTS."

Glad to see you, Fuzz.

My husband, Dan, just read this to me. The swelling around his eyes and mouth should have receded sufficiently in a few days for him to return to his accepted pursuit of blogging.

Just kidding. Great ad, I might buy myself a pair.

Love it! We need to (in Rush's words) DE-Chickify the guys. Nothing sexier than a man who loves Jesus!

Wow, I really liked this. My friends and I discuss this all the time. Many of our peers don't like the fact that a few of us own guns, ride motorcycles, and aspire to be men again.

One of my best friends has recently started this journey to discover his masculinity, and in the process, he realized he wanted to be a marine. He is in the process of joining up. His girlfriend told him she misses the days when he was a college-aged hippy sitting around playing guitar. She can't accept the fact that he enjoys tradionally masculine things now.

I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to post on this as well. I'll give you a linkback :)

GO DOCKERS! What a great ad! Finally someone besides Dr. Laura and Rush are noticing that men have become emasculated wusses. Geez, give 'em a football and let them get dirty already!

Kathy! Are you the sweetheart of our Bumbling Genius, Dan? That Dan? :) Neat!

Thanks for stopping by!! I looked @ your profile page - you're my kinda girl!!! ;)

Annie~ Great to see you again! You got it (& so does Rush) - men are meant to be men...not women with whiskers! And, NO, we are NOT the SAME (thank heaven!).

James! So cool that a young guy like you likes this! You give me hope that my daughter will someday have choices of men who aren't afraid to be real!! (vs. being afraid of & submissive to their women - *blech*)

Of course you should post this! The more, the better. If you don't link back, that's fine too.

Godspeed to your friend who's 'joining up.' It's not for everybody, but apparently it's where his 'journey' has taken him. It's a noble thing to choose, after careful consideration, to take the warrior mantle. Would that more men were as intentional & had such integrity - whether they go military or not. Anybody can have XY chromosomes. It takes true courage to be a Man.

A real Woman will want to walk through life w/ a courageous Man by her side. And a real Man needs a wise woman. It gets pretty tough out there sometimes, & they're each gonna need it. (Am I wrong, girls?) Tell him to toss that toward his girlfriend. Maybe she's wiser than you think; maybe not. Then he'll have a decision to make.

Enjoy your guns & motorcycles & your manly stuff, James. It's very healthy. Good for you!

Pam~ "Finally someone besides Dr. Laura and Rush are noticing that men have become emasculated wusses."

Isn't that a relief?! I read this ad for the first time & thought, "Hallelujah! There are serious people who are willing to put their $ where their mouth is!"

I've thought for a while that maybe it was my unique experience (which may not be so unique) of having 2 older brothers, that has afforded me my perspective on masculinity:

I'm not sure that's all it is, though...No matter. This was a freeing thing for me, this ad.

I loved it! But I wonder how long it will be before ACLU, or some other nut-group decides to sue Dockers for being discriminating...I mean for some kind of discrimination.

Dockers?

Never wear em.

I only wear Zanella or Cannelli pants

Good post. Men need to be men and women need to be women. The gender neutrality trend has really destroyed social roles and the beauty of acknowledging the differences in gender.

Holding the door open for a woman doesn't send the signal that the man thinks the woman is weak or anything the like. It merely means he wants to be a gentleman and compliment the lady. This is only one brief example of what has been lost within the extreme feminist movement... Women should not try to make men feminine nor should men give in and let it happen.

There are men out there who ain't afraid to be what God created them to be. Me, I am a blue jeans guy, nothing against Dockers, by necessity for the most part.

Single dads don't have alot of spare time after working during the day and coming home to care for 3 children (only two left tho) for 14 years, blue jeans clean up pretty good.

Enjoyed immensely the opportunity to be a "mother" but "daddy" was my true nature and we have survived the single parent stigma quite well.

Not to be contradictory to Susannah and the bloggers here but it is unfortunate that men have to be kicked in the pants by advertising to prod them into the realization that being a man in not a bad thing unless you choose to do bad things. Have not been real impressed with the progressive fem attitudes either, seem to blame me and hold me accountable for nothing I did, but I guess I can accept it as my trial of tolerance building.

I'm rather new to this blogging stuff, so if taking me with a grain of salt is appropriate, so be it, but humour me by trying my favorites, Murray River and Himalania Pink, they are wonderful on my homegrown heirloom tomatoes.

I offer in closing one motto I abscribe to (usually); "All things are perfect until someone compares it something else".

Y'all take care.

Hey all!
Been away from the computer for several days, but so glad to see you've stopped by!

Z~ I know! I was thinking the EXACT same thing...'can I be reading this right?' Have thought of you a lot lately.

Joe~ I loved it, too! I'm sure they've already been to the magistrate's office to answer the suits filed against them. You know they had to calculate it in. I sure hope they have an answer for it.

Mal~ I don't own any either. My husband doesn't like the way they fit. BUT...Santa Claus just bought a pair of Dockers gloves for our both of our boys' Christmas stash! I think my husband will end up w/ at least a pair of socks or something! ;)

Leslie~ "Women should not try to make men feminine nor should men give in and let it happen."
Absolutely agreed! Good to see you, gal!

Jaded~ Welcome here, & welcome to blogging! You've said nothing contradictory, that I can see (& even if you had, that's your prerogative).

"but it is unfortunate that men have to be kicked in the pants by advertising to prod them into the realization that being a man in not a bad thing unless you choose to do bad things"
This is an unfortunate byproduct of the Feminist movement, & it proves (in part) how much power women have over the men in their lives. This is just a fact, & if that power is used with respect & humility, strong families & communities are nurtured. If that power is used as a weapon (as in the Feminist M.O.) men, families & communities suffer. The rather bitter irony is that women suffer right along w/ everyone else, when they 'get what they deserve' through Feminist means. Sad.

That's why this ad is so heartening. Good luck w/ blogging!

OH! Susannah,

You make me feel like a leader, thank you.

Glad to be of assistance. I was getting tired of the stance that I was simply an ass.

Take care and GOD bless you.

It's a great campaign that risks upsetting the PC crowd. Of course those really aren't the hard-workin' Levi types, are they?

Clay~ Glad to see you & Merry Christmas! Good point about the PC crowd!

Cappy! Great to see you! Hope you're having a great Christmas season. Wear your Docker's proud, my friend!

Dear Susannah,

Thank you.

Considering I continually have one shoe stuck firmly in my mouth I appreciate your thoughts that I have one best foot to put forward.

I do really value what you are doing to preserve our little slice of the heritage that God has given his children and I am sorry about the a*& comment.

God Bless you and all of your family from me this Christmas.

I will have to pass on your last blog, I fall in love too hard to chance the puppy thing, (Belle and Laddy are missed), they just don't hang around long enough and I get my heart broke easily.

But darn it is cute in the outfit you contrived.

conservatively yours,

jadedfellow

Jaded~ Thanks for the nice things you just said. No worries @ all on the a@# thing...I thought it was funny!

You're exactly right about the puppy love problem. I'm afraid I'm H.I.S.T.O.R.Y with this one. His name is Otis & he's 3. He really is the sweetest dog I've ever known (I've known several), & very obedient (we've worked w/ him A LOT!). He had his share of treats during his photo session, trust me!

I don't even want to consider the day that'll eventually come. We had to put our first Jack Russell "Tucker" down after a long battle w/ kidney disease. Oh, what a time...I'm sorry about your Belle - my Weimaraner that I grew up w/ was named Belle - & Laddy. They never do really go away, do they? There's a dear children's book called "Dog Heaven" by Cynthia Rylant that you can find in your library - very sweet, about losing a dog. After losing Tucker, I give it to people who lose pets. Check it out.

Anyway, this little guy is just the best dog in this world. He even SMILES at us when we get home!

Enough, or I'll gush for hours. ;)
